Note from the Editor:
It was time for a new corps this year; the USACE. USACE stands for United States Army Corps of Engineers. Some of them are, in fact, in the Army, but the vast majority of USACE personnel are civilian employees, some as regular full-time employees, others as contractors. I was brought on as one of their contractors. (Curious, as I’d recently tried to start a private military contractors company…)
Attempting to share this blackest of all humor with my civilian, Army, and Air Force coworkers at the Corps of Engineers only produced nervous laughter from some of them, and panic from others. It wasn’t long before we were told to stop emailing pictures to each other altogether. I was even asked to do my stretches in the stairwell where no one could see me. Yeah, it got bad.
I suppose I can understand some of their reactions when I sent this as a response to an inquiry about when our team was going to leave our high-rise office-building for lunch one day: I said in the email “race you to the truck” and all it showed was this attachment:

Poking Fun at Fake News:
Fake news here! “Read all about it!” I must ask: Why is it that we hear so little about Africa, when many of its nations rival our own in terms of populations, wars, and plans?
All I ever remember about Africa from our “news sources” over here is that it is big, there are a lot of Black people there, and it occasionally has to deal with Ebola outbreaks. More than a billion people live on that continent. It rivals ASIA. There are giant ancient ruins all OVER the thing, including some that are the size of STATES.
In this case, we are talking about a news blackout; fake news is any claiming to be of greater importance than what should have been reported about the countless operations going on all over and within this vast landmass. Fake news is pretending the pyramids of Egypt are the most noteworthy feature here. It was also a lie to claim that there was evidence all humans on the entire planet originated from apes or monkeys climbing around in African jungles.
