Annie and Auz:
She was soft-disclosed to him in November of 2022. They started texting shortly thereafter. He invited her to meet him if she wanted, and let her know she was welcome in his secret city, his main supercomputer having already prescreened her (just like it does everyone it can tell he will like).
Annie was immediately impressed with him, he having overcome even his greatest urges; lust –even to the point of kicking out his beloved top-wife, Ambi, that one time she had that, “I want to be a tyrant.” evil / pre-Shift mindset ‘hiccup’. With all his powers and allies, he was still a good man with uncompromising standards and morals. …She was star-struck.
This was the romantic storybook ‘slow burn’ every long-term writer and girl like Annie dreams of but never dares hope for. She even found herself chasing him, back and forth, in very agreeable intervals, and at just the right pace; it wasn’t just slow and steady, building up; it was perfect, vibing just right. Annie never felt she had to intimidate or threaten him like she sometimes had to with Outlanders, and he never asked her for a thing –other than to hang out with him whenever she had time and wanted to.
Her powers have no effect on Inisfreeans (ICVs), as ICVs can’t be blinded, having been designed to continue operating easily/effortlessly even when near and inside actual stars. She can certainly make Auz close and cover his eyes, though. Sometimes she lets him see just a hint of her glow/light, knowing now that he really likes and gravitates to that (thanks to the Angel, Elemental, and sorcerer/wizard blood in him).
“You and I both had to learn to not be so pure-good all the time out there,” he once told her in that signature, smooth, low, masculine voice of his, so handsomely laced with heartache and wise-old-man undertones. Looking up from his daydream, back into her eyes, his own so calm and honest, he completed the thought; “That was difficult for me –rough on me. I’ve always been even more of a do-gooder than you; …my blood always urged me to be brave and help.” He looked around at the area of Inisfree they had stopped to sit on a park bench and talk in, “…Inisfree is what I built so I could stay good again… like I’d always really wanted to.” He looked back to her, “This city is where I no longer have to dumb myself down or tolerate really awful people and jobs my heart just knows aren’t right. It’s where I can launch and maintain good projects all the time, never having to hide them from others, or settle for less than I know I can and should be working on. And it’s where fellow good people welcome me back and congratulate me each time I’m done. …I hope you’ll find you can get back to your beloved inner self here, too.”
