Family Across the Stars,

The first computer games were simple and two-dimensional, barely understandable or playable at all. In the 1950s, researchers started developing them, sometimes just for fun. By the 1960s, Moon Landing and other lesser-known ‘classics’ had hit the primitive gamer shelves. Atari and similar computer-game companies would rise not long after.

When Massively-Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Games (MMORPGs) began to come on the scene; during the later 1970s, so much about gaming was changed. A small handful of players per game could now reach well into the thousands, and eventually it surpassed the millions. Game environments vastly expanded from chessboards and small television screens… to virtually endless and fully-interactive, richly immersive, lifelike worlds. Some games even allowed players to travel across incredible expanses of Outer Space between multiple worlds. MMORPGs made many stories so fun to play as games that several people even lost their jobs and very lives, completely spellbound by their graphics-intensive wonderlands.

Why we are making one of our own: Inisfree is a booming metropolis with many hidden gems and chances at incredible personal development. It has all the makings of a perfect MMORPG environment. Since games of that caliber have been so wildly successful, not to mention useful and studied by major government organizations such as the CDC, it only stands to reason that we invest in the development and marketing of an MMORPG based on our home. This computer game all about Inisfree serves to introduce outsiders to daily and nightly life here in our paradise realm, giving them a taste to keep them striving toward personal goals and eventual acceptance to complete one of our tours.

The progress we’ve seen so far in this gaming venture of ours has included:

  • concept art
  • scale physical models
  • computer models
  • game design instructions and basic coding formulae
  • artist renderings
  • storyboards for cinematics
  • in-game lore from our series of ten novels
  • dozens of webpages to introduce all of the coming game aspects (here)
  • inclusion of the University of Inisfree Online (UIO) content
  • heavy research and application of every detail we could find about how successful MMORPG companies developed and maintained their hits
  • discussions with the makers of World of Warcraft and its predecessors (arguably the best and most successful MMORPG series on Earth)
  • visits to MMORPG-making offices and campuses
  • trips arranged to academies and universities in Europe and Asia renowned for producing graduates the major game-developers hire
  • budgeting for the best custom work-stations and other computers necessary for developing and hosting the servers of this MMORPG of our own
  • and the hiring of our first WMKM Studios employees; professional graphic designer graduates of high-tech art schools across the country

Blog article about all this here.

WGI will get a constant stream of tons of R+D data from the release and activity of this Inisfree MMORPG, putting it to use the way the CDC, as mentioned above, used the data from the WoW MMORPG (during an in-game virtual outbreak accident which led to very interesting player actions easily applicable in real-life scenarios). WGI will monitor and learn from events in our game, constantly fine-tuning Inisfree’s highway traffic controls and other automated features of our actual city based on them. You can expect a lot of great things coming from our subsidiary, WMKM Studios on the other side of the mountain.

I, for one, will be thoroughly enjoying playing this very own MMORPG of mine, right from the comfort of my home’s gaming room and theater, conveniently located halfway between WMKM Studios (where I’ll be helping to direct and beta-test it in the lab) and the WGI HQ Tower in Sotu; downtown Inisfree (where we’ll be managing its marketing and release, predominantly shipped from our city’s Distribution Center whenever it is not ordered and downloaded online). I hope you’ll enjoy playing it, too! By the way, my gamer tag on the WMKM Studios servers is Auz Prime, if you’d like to find if my character is moving through any of the Inisfree MMORPG areas when you’re logged in, and you can download your copy of the game through our city’s private Internet, the FOB-Net. Race you to level-cap!

To paradise and beyond,

A °
