WGI’s dozens of companies have been launched and recruited for, creating thousands of jobs right off the back, billions more projected here on this starting planet in the near future, and outside offices on other worlds creating millions more, all of which encourage not the hiring of people indiscriminately (one of the greediest, most reckless, and most common mistakes of America and other human nations of the previous era), but the hiring and financial well-being of only good beings compatible with our great culture. In short, WGI hasn’t just created jobs for the sake of creating jobs, nor has our company sought to cater to a pointlessly exploding population. WGI creates the best jobs for the good people.

Over the past few months, I’ve talked to you a lot about the steps we’re taking to simplify our business and focus our investments on retail fundamentals. From exiting unprofitable areas of the business to developing our strategic Business Blueprint, every change we’ve made so far has been to align and enable us to become number one in Universe improvement. WGI stands at the forefront of this lucrative field.

Today we announced some additional staffing investments and changes. In total, we’re investing in more than 60,000 jobs PER YEAR from now through 2019. Those include:

  • More than 100,000 seasonal roles to position us as the go-to Universe-improvement retailer for customers’ indoor and outdoor projects, while catering to the travel and schedule parameters of those visiting and acclimating to Inisfree prior to deciding on any long-term stays
  • Nearly 20,000 permanent associates as part of a merchandising team and field support structure focused on best-in-class inventory management and merchandising excellence (because a very successful pilot program showed us that the implementation of such a team will improve in-stock availability and allow WGI associates to spend more time serving our customers and guests)
  • Approximately 10,000 full-time assistant manager and department supervisor roles to improve customer engagement, which, developed in partnership with select field team members, is part of a comprehensive plan to simplify how work is done, as well as to ensure we have adequate leaders to focus on store priorities, coach teams to drive sales, and improve floor coverage
  • More than 5,000 technology roles, including software engineers, data scientists, and other digital positions, to build and enhance core technology capabilities, because we’re investing in a transformation of our technology infrastructure to enhance our customers’ in-store and online experiences with WGI while simplifying everything you as individual associates do

As we invest more in these core areas of the business, we’re also making tough decisions about some of our in-store support functions to simplify operations and focus on customer experience in our core Universe-improvement business. I will keep you in the loop about all of these decisions, and make sure you have ample time to educate and cross-train one another in preparation.

After a detailed review by Amber ICV1 and our Council of Elders, we will be exiting the black-operations program of regulating the humans for the next century or two. Simply put, our current processes and systems haven’t resolved the underlying nature and point of concern with that species, despite the hard work of our associates leading up to, and during, the Rapture Campaign. Moving forward, WGI will no longer offer complex global-reset project services, and will instead focus on sustainable cities and other single-location service offerings for compatible species. This change is happening now to provide clarity around our key services to make them both more manageable for our associates and more likely to meet the non-human Earth-communities’ expectations.

Due to the profitability and service results, we will continue to invest in our Kajirae Candidates Program, as well as, in partnership with the representatives of planet Gor, our Kajirae Candidates Acquisition Program, inspired by that world’s Voyages of Acquisition.

After careful assessment of our Loss Prevention department, we are aligning to better support our stores and customers. The department title will change to Asset Protection to reflect our commitment to customer and employee safety while we refine our focus on store operations.

All WGI associates impacted by these changes have been encouraged to apply for open positions, including the many roles we’re announcing in this message today. We’re committed to working to support those who wish to stay at WGI, and severance packages will be available for all eligible impacted associates who separate out of any of our companies.

Friends, I know change can be hard. In my career, I’ve been the person making change and the person receiving change, and it’s still tough to make decisions that impact our people. It’s my job to make the right decisions, and I can promise you two things as we continue this journey of change and growth together: 1) every change you see me make is intended to help us live out our mission, and 2) I will be honest and transparent with you along the way.
