2024 August 27 Tuesday notes:

  • The Covenant glassed ~2/3 of the outer surface of planet Reach.
In November 2553, a scouting team arrived on Reach to see the true damage to the planet in, and prepare the planet for re-terraforming. By 2589, Reach had gone through re-terraforming and it was restored to a habitable state, with new human colonists re-settling the planet.
    Reach is larger than Earth.
Re-terraforming it in 36 years suggests lots of experience, resources (to be able to edit/fix the surface of a planet), and strategic value.
  • Harvest was likewise mostly glassed (and more than Reach was), but its northern polar region was sparred by The Covenant in order to avoid damaging a Forerunner artefact there, thus the UNSC spent 5 years fighting to retake the planet; it was not completely environmentally destroyed, thus was re-terraform-able.
    Harvest is smaller than Earth.
If re-terraforming was attempted, it was not specified in the disclosure.
Even though Harvest is much smaller than Reach, it was more extensively damaged, thus would probably take at least as long to re-terraform, if not longer.
  • During the 2600s A.D., TNH began visiting and assisting all the settled/colonized/re-terraformed worlds listed here.  The UNSC had become excellent at terraforming, settling/colonizing, monitoring, and defending these worlds, but no one would ever be as perfect at those things –or at healing bodies and minds/trauma– as the Inisfreeans.  Most humans were still nightmarishly nonvegan and self-deformed/ing, but there were still a decent percentage of their kind on all the worlds humans were on who warranted at least prescreening, if not also direct aid/guidance.  Whenever potentially-compatible humans were detected in those rebuilt colonies, they were invited to spend some time aboard TNH while it was in orbit over their respective worlds; that was the way the Inisfreeans would let them encounter and benefit from (the healing-auras and wisdom) of ICVs, those enlightened humans then able to return to their colonies/worlds and help re-stabilize them even more.
