Introduction:

This long and snowy racing track is made just for snowmobiles, and works the same way similar tracks do in the X-Games; the extreme sports competitions of the Winter Olympics.  There are straightaways, turns, ramps, and loops.  When races are not being held here, the track is open for practice runs.

Dimensions & Layout:

  • whole area:  ~1,320′ (.25 mile) x ~2,640′ (.5 mile); ~3,484,800 square feet (80 acres)
  • 2 tracks; 1 shorter, 1 longer
  • both tracks:  oval loop; 2 shorter sides, and 2 longer sides
  • shorter track:  ~3,960′ long/around; .75 mile
  • longer track:  ~6,600′ long/around; 1.25 miles
  • track width:  ~66′
  • snow-berms/jumps:  ~5′ up to ~30′ (X-Games sizes/obstacles are available for expert snowmobilers)
    ~dozens of berms/jumps along 3 of the long-track’s 4 sides
~numerous (hundreds) of berms/jumps in the area inside the long-track (which can be approached from any direction)
*All significant/big berms/jumps are only on the portion/’legs’ of the long-track which is not part of the small-track.
  • areas inside the tracks:
smaller area (~1/4 of this area inside the tracks) for beginner snowmobilers to practice going off-track; on rugged terrain
larger area (~3/4 of this area inside the tracks) for experienced snowmobilers to practice more-advanced maneuvers on rugged terrain

Rules:

  1. Make a reservation before coming here; lessons and races are never scheduled at the same time.
  2. Formal/military training/events at this area are always kept fully separate from non-military ones; individual/civilian snowmobilers (whether racing or not) are only scheduled/allowed to ride/race here when there is at least a half-hour gap between the military and non-military groups/events.
  3. Borrow a snowmobile at/from the Overhang Base (which can be driven by an ICV to this racetrack for you –and the GAH route from that storage facility to this racetrack is ~.75 of 1 mile).  (People in Inisfree don’t own their own snowmobiles; they might have a snowmobile in the Outlands, but they don’t have their own while visiting/living here.)
  4. Limit 1 rider to the 1-person snowmobiles, and 2 riders to the 2-person snowmobiles.
  5. Drivers and passengers both must have protective gear; helmet, thermal padded jacket, gloves, boots, etc. (excepting ICVs who are invincible, of course).
  6. Do not attach or drag anything behind your snowmobile.
  7. Just like everywhere else in our realm, there must be no congestions / traffic-jams, so limit ~100 snowmobiles in this area / on these tracks at a time (100 total; for both tracks; for the whole area).
  8. Stay parked/staged in the start-area off to the side of the track/s until motioned to proceed/race.
  9. Only start/drive when at least 1 ICV is present as a lifeguard for your entire event/race.
  10. Be a courteous driver/racer; no running into other snowmobiles, parked or not.
  11. Only do tricks (such as jumps/flips) if the people/racers around you are also at the racetrack for that, or at least are comfortable being near you when you do yours.
  12. Anytime a driver/rider falls off his/her snowmobile, or gets stuck while still on his/her snowmobile, all traffic must steer far around him/her, if not stop and wait, giving that person or people time to get off/up, and giving them and/or the ICV on duty time to free/right the snowmobile.
  13. If anyone gets rattled or hurt, all traffic toward/near them must be stopped, and a either a hover-shuttle or fire-tank will be called to med-evac’ the hurt person/people.
  14. High-speed and technical moves should only be performed on the long track.
  15. When the small track is in use by beginners/novices, snowmobilers using the long track must slow down and yield to them when the long-track snowmobilers are at/on the portion of the long track which meets the short track.
  16. You can change which snowmobile you are using/riding if you have permission from the person who checked out (“rented”) the snowmobile you intend to switch over to, but only dismount your snowmobile and mount another snowmobile from a complete stop.
  17. Launching fireworks off your snowmobile while it is being driven is permitted if you let the ICV/s working here know in advance that you plan to do that.  Limit fireworks to personal-sized ones which only go up several stories at most; no commercial-scale fireworks.

Special Features:

Just like all vehicles in our realm, none of these snowmobiles pollute in any way.  They do not use gasoline, and they do not emit exhaust.  While it could be argued that they can leave traces/particles of oil or tracks material/s, they are carefully designed to be as zero-pollution as possible with our tech’.

2024 July 16 Tuesday note:  Outlander snowmobiles are gasoline powered, and have a range of 70-300 miles.
Ours are powered by our pollution-free technologies, and have an infinite range.

History:

Not originally envisioned in Inisfree’s design, it was years after the city’s construction started that this feature/attraction was thought of and a place chosen/reserved for it.

  1. 2012:  not yet present or envisioned
  2. ~2015:  initially outlined and placed, added to the city map
  3. 2022:  all current specifications and rules/guidelines decided on, and the first non-training event (i.e. a race) was planned for an upcoming year
  4. 23000/+:  hourly bookings of both tracks here are frequent, regardless of day or night, so you’ll often see this attraction “at capacity”; ~100 snowmobiles/snowmobilers

Location:

Please pardon the typo on that map; it says jet-ski instead of snowmobile.
