Introduction:

This is the mile-diameter spherical neighborhood which orbits the Avalanche Ring Wall on the slopes of Mount Olympus (Inisfree’s largest mountain, which the whole city is radially arranged around) below.  If you’ve seen the mothership from Close Encounters of the Third Kind, or the original Cloud City in the skies of planet Bespin in Star Wars, flip them upside down, allow only the finest babes to populate the new structure, and you have the right idea.  You can also imagine Dalaran from World of Warcraft, except much bigger, and with a smooth Moon-like exterior.

* Guests visiting this part of Inisfree should be advised that our Cloud City’s levels are between 1/4 mile below, and 3/4 mile above, the altitude of the summit of Mt. Everest; acclimation to Antarctica in general is strongly urged first (the coldest, driest, highest, and windiest land on Earth), then to Inisfree’s ground-level (which is 1.75 miles above sea level), and finally to the elevations of our central (largest) mountain.  Once you are comfortable operating on our central mountain’s summit (which is at the same altitude as the summit of highest mountains of the Andes), it is then safe to proceed with acclimation to higher altitudes here.  ICVs monitor the health and vital signs of all guests at all times, so there is no risk of over-exposure, fainting, or anything else; we just advise you all to play it safe for your own peace of mind and comfort.

Dimensions & Layout:

Like Inisfree, this construct has a mostly solid lower hemisphere, and a mostly open-air upper hemisphere.  Also like Inisfree, large Repulsines built into its lower hemisphere allow it to hover and maneuver silently, and generate the energy field which is helped to remain in a dome over its open-air upper half by how it is attracted to the outside surface area of its lower half.  As stated before, it is essentially a sphere with a diameter of one mile.

Its ‘ground level’ is exactly two miles above the Avalanche Wall, while its lowest point (the center of the outside surface of its lower hemisphere) is exactly 1.5 miles above that same wall.

Suites and hangars (to receive incoming, small (personal-sized) air-and-Spacecraft) are throughout its otherwise solid lower hemisphere.

On its surface (‘ground level’ a.k.a. ‘topside’) there is a ring of the Glowing Art Highway (G.A.H.), with G.A.H. subway tracks running parallel just below it.  Observation balconies, terraces, and full-sized lawns are arranged between the outside edge of that G.A.H. ring and the ledge at the end of this circular topside area, where many Inisfreeans and guests enjoy starting their skydiving, hang-gliding, and para-sailing.  There are also many Caribbean-colored ponds in this area of Cloud City which are encircled and bedded with white and beige sand.

Inside the G.A.H. ring, there is an open space on all sides leading inward toward the base of Cloud City’s central and tallest spire; a skyscraper standing half a mile tall up from this plane.  About half way up this spire, there is a group of hovering buildings, as well as some small clouds that are formed by the natural reaction of nearby water vapor with the energy fields generated by their own Repulsines.

Capacity:

This is a mile-diameter inverted dome, plus many ‘futuristic’/sleek mega-skyscrapers (and hundreds of shorter buildings) atop it, with roughly as much room for habitation in its livable spires/skyscrapers as in the space (hemisphere) below (them, which is also) reserved for engines (repulsines) and hangars; that = ~38,536,333,718.89 cubic feet of livable space/s, thus room for ~2,000,000 residents + as many guests during standing-room events.

Some ~1,700,000 people stay in the suites of this floating/hovering construct.

The other ~300,000 stay in the suites/lodging (including pent-houses) of the spires (skyscrapers here).

Special Features:

Space-worthy:  Inisfree was designed and built from the start to be one big spaceship.  Like all its other structures/facilities, Cloud City II is as sturdy as a Space fortress, air tight, even in the vacuum of The Abyss (Outer Space), maintaining its own atmosphere if need be.  Every single spire and suite up here can instantly seal itself off from the outside, should ever an issue with our location and/or sky-dome (or Cloud City II’s own smaller sky-dome) be detected by the ICVs or the city itself (and that won’t trap residents; they can always open the hatches down through the airlocks connecting to our city-wide Silos Network; the basements and tunnels which link them all, every residence and other surface structure/facility).

Multiple ‘redundant’ (complementary/overlapping) fail-safes ensure this construct stays in the air where it belongs; its repulsines prevent it from falling, tilting, or being nudged off its set path, and it has a system/device which can automatically teleport/portal it to a safe location in the Perimeter Orb, should ever it begin to fall or need to make an emergency landing (which has never happened).  Some of Inisfree’s Spaceships are capable of using their tractor-beams and repulsor-beams to control its descent and otherwise guide it –like airborne tugboats.  Believe it or not, there are even some very powerful superhuman people who visit/live in Inisfree who could catch it and help out, as well.  In short:  it simply will never drop or crash into the terrain below.

One of Inisfree’s five Congresses; the Global one for Earth, meets here (in the main chamber in the base of the central spire).

* Every year, on November 16, Cloud City diverts from its orbit over the Avalanche Wall to make a fly-by to and around our Devils Tower landform, honoring one of their greatest inspirations; this is the release date of the film Close Encounters of the Third Kind.  It plays, from its exterior speakers, the classic 5-note sequence from that movie, too (along with the rest of the musical interchange, details here).  For one hour, it will remain hovering near the ground on the plateau-side of the landform, and spectators are welcome to enter and exit its lowest bays at will.

2023 August:  If ever there was a hover issue, repulsor beams (the opposite of tractor beams) would automatically turn on from beneath Cloud City II, as well as from atop the Avalanche Wall beneath it, while tractor beams auto’ turned on from the far side of the Avalanche Wall, helping prevent Cloud City II from tipping, while ICVs portal-ed or flew everyone out of Cloud City II.
As a last resort, CPs and WSs can be deployed within seconds to similarly assist, a WS even becoming a shelf-like platform to lower Cloud City II if necessary.
If the Cloud City II repulsines for some reason could not be brought back online after it was stabilized/caught by those other devices/structures/vessels, the best place for keeping that mile-diameter hemisphere-like megastructure inside our city / sky-dome is atop the wall along the desert plateaus; that part of our realm is the flattest, widest, sturdiest, and most-unused (almost never visited), etc..
These procedures were rehearsed in Autumn of 2023, everyone given weeks of noticed by our MAS plus from individual ICVs near them in the days leading up to the rehearsal/s.
The invincible ICs were, of course, not even dented or damaged at all during these drills.

Sections:

The new Eagle’s Nest, this city-within-a-city has three main sections and two distinct hemispheres.

1. Exterior:  outer shell/surface; its ‘chameleon skin-like’ part which allows it to look like different phases of Earth’s moon

2. Top Hemisphere:  public areas (except for the Global Congress meeting room)

3. Lower Hemisphere:  private areas

    • G.A.H. Loop (subway/underground portion under ground-level up here)
    • Suites (with Owl garages)
    • Hangars
    • Repulsines

History:

This mile-wide airship was constructed in July of 2011.  Its repulsines came online near the end of that month, at which time it rose up to its current position.  Its first ‘orbit’ (circular flight-path over and following the Avalanche Wall’s top as viewed from above) began that day, and it has continued following that same path/orbit ever since.

As you can see, it is shaped like a mini Inisfree (an inverted dome with buildings upon it), and it was formed and raised before our city-flight; building and flying this thing was a sort of ‘getting ready’ proof-of-concept for the hovering and flying of the whole city.

From Auz‘s journal:  “I dreamed I went to the moon once.  Then I dreamed it was closer and speaking to me via its red city-dots.  Maybe I was seeing the future of making and going to my own; maybe those weren’t dreams, but my mind’s ability to recall things in this later time.”

2024 June 18 Tuesday 9:20 PM, PST:  The underside matches the Moon’s appearance; day by day, it changes phases from Full, to waning, to New, to waxing, and back to Full, at the same rate the Moon does.
