Introduction:
Since the industrial revolution, more and more people have turned to invention to create machines which make quick and precise work of the tasks that had been wearing them and many others out. Steam engines replaced rowing and adjusting sails, cotton gins and other harvesting equipment gave field workers long-overdue rest and recovery from grueling manual labor once keeping them in the merciless sunlight all day, and then computers came along and began figuring out better ways of doing absolutely everything, making the management of the most complex and mindboggling operations and research projects… not only possible, but easy.
In Inisfree, especially with our farming, given that we foresaw the coming need to provide food and sustainable agriculture technology knowhow to many millions of people soon to be aligned and allied with us, we adopted and further innovated with those technologies. We began trying out 3D-printing to make our farm vehicles and tools, and even to more quickly and sturdily construct our barn and biodomes. Then we learned about the FarmBot Genesis, and used our ICVs to take it to the next step; here, we don’t just use its scaffolding-like setup to monitor our crops, we have the mobile, sexy equivalent walking around (i.e. our ICVs), checking each of our plants with even more-sophisticated sensors, the FarmBot app replaced by our shared-consciousness private intranet and by-mind alert-icons messaging system.

Farms Now Manage Themselves:
You read that right; you can automate the entire farming and gardening process that way now (not just the planting, watering, and weeding, but the harvesting and even crop-rotation, as well as everything else, such as vehicle maintenance, soil and water testing, adjusting soil pH, identifying plant ailments, isolating variables to determine causes, curing those ailments, engineering specific size and flavor results, you name it), and it isn’t that difficult or technical. If you have trouble tending your garden or fields, we can introduce you to a great variety of vehicles and other devices which can steer on their own and keep a close eye on all your planting, watering, weeding, and other landscaping or horticultural needs. Whether you are a hobby gardener or a commercial-scale farmer who knows all there is to know about agriculture, there are many products on the market which can free up your time and allow you to recover your sleep and strength with ease.
In Inisfree, ICVs and our water-table regulating silos take care of all the crops; they are our city’s automation. We also have many underground shipping containers (as annexes of those silos of ours) built for aeroponics, aquaponics, and hydroponics, and they are monitored remotely, thanks to our Internet, iScrolls, and apps. Farms beyond our realm often use similar technologies, such as hydroponics modules and drones.
Many communities comparable to ours, in terms of how sustainable and off-grid they are, are using this approach, too. While traditional by-hand agriculture and gardening are still an enjoyable part of many homesteaders’ days, it is back the way it once was in previous Ages; it is done at a healthy leisurely pace, and amidst guaranteed abundance, never with stress, nor with any pressure from ‘banksters’ or hyper-competitive ag’ mega-corporations behaving like bullies. Automating farming has allowed farmers and hobbyists to step away from their crops whenever they want or need, getting back to their normal lives, dreams, and personal growth, knowing their food will still be making it to the table on time, every time.

Automated Farming Beyond Our Farm:
All across our realm, including many of the new worlds and Inisfree-like cities we have started since establishing Inisfree, we have been using this technology successfully. You’ll likely notice the healthy crops and other plants growing all around, within some rooms of, and even in balcony troughs and on the rooftops of almost every residence in each of our neighborhoods. All of our restaurants and offices downtown have been doing this, too, keeping their food chains automated and local.
What has always worked perfectly at our main farm is now used at all our other farms here in Inisfree and in numerous other places. It will likely be the go-to method for producing natural food on all the worlds we form relationships with. Eventually… it may even be the universal standard.
