All 8 of these, Inisfree’s 2nd largest hangar type, are now fully stocked with its WarShips; there are 64* of those 2-mile-long ships ready to deploy from our city (from them) at a moment’s notice, and only a few of them were ever needed to complete the Rapture Campaign.

*As of 2022, there are now single-WS hangars also located in our city’s lower hemisphere, the original estimate/total of 128 WSs down there (in that lower hemisphere) restored; computer-modeling of the original envisioned formation/orientation of the WSs-hangars revealed that the upper set of 8 of them would not fit within the available volume of solid terrain, as parts of them would be above ground-level.

Introduction:

These hangars are 4.5 miles long, and are hollow cylindrical prisms with a diameter of more than a full mile; they are tubes big enough to house up to eight of Inisfree’s WarShips in each of them. Oriented radially (extending outward from the core of Inisfree) and diagonally (tilted down toward the largest of the city’s perimeter gates arranged evenly about its lower hemisphere, they serve as the unheard, unseen, main terrestrial traffic channels. Millions of potential kajirae and others are transported to and from Inisfree via its special military air-and-Spaceships through these ports, making their first journeys and steps into this hidden city through the restricted tunnels of its subterranean silos grid.

Access Points:

The highest sides of these hangars border the circular bottom of the Main Womb; the largest of Inisfree’s cylindrical air-and-Spaceship hangars. The underground sections of the Glowing Art Highway (G.A.H.) run parallel to multiple sides of the exteriors of these cylindrical hangars. Their (these hangars’) lowest sides, as stated above, connect to the mile-diameter city gates which control the flow of traffic to and from the subglacial riverways of Antarctica –or wherever Inisfree might teleport or land.  Only Inisfreean military personnel are allowed down here, though. Even with an escort from the city’s royalty, one will seldom have reason to be here.

Dimensions:

Each Inisfreean Uber Hangar measures just over 4.5 miles along its long axis, and just over two miles in diameter; each is designed to house eight of Inisfree’s super-carriers; those are the city’s generically-named WarShips, abbreviated as WSs. WSs dock in rectangular indentions in these hangars’ walls, maintaining a flight-way through the middle of these hangars wide and tall enough to allow for the passage of a single lane of air traffic of these ships at a time. These WS docking indentions are arranged in four rows of two each; two rings of four per hangar. Entirely underground, each of these hangars allows WSs to pass in and out of it via its WS-sized gate (a single sliding-open doorway, unlike the five-chamber rotating-spheres gates-sequence Pearly Gates above).  Lastly, each of these hangars has a buffer border around it (similar in form to an insulating sleeve for a soda can) slightly thicker than one third of a mile; ample room for all WS docking indentions, and it is from these indentions’ innermost faces up in these Uber Hangar buffer zones that G.A.H. sections allow vehicular traffic to and from these WSs, connecting their docked hatches with the rest of Inisfree’s lower hemisphere.

Advisory:

Don’t let the name of this type of hangar of ours fool or worry you; we almost never declare or go to war, and the name of these hangars and the ships they contain are a remnant from a pre-Shift and near-Shift time when war was forced upon us just so we could manage to survive.  Today, our WarShips are used like those in humanity’s Starfleet; for exploration, first contact, and diplomacy, with manners and science always in mind, to maintain natural progressions and important peace.  These hangars here almost always are full; our ships originally named WarShips are docked and in stasis 99% of the time, seldom needed, and now only used in graceful peaceful ways.

Ever since we completed the long-prophesied Rapture campaign, these hangars have been predominantly trafficked not by these miles-long “WarShips” of ours, but by individual smaller airships, such as our MPHAs.

Locations & Overall:

*Some of the following images show pre-construction original-design WarShip Hangar orientations.  Only the lower half of the upper eight WarShip Hangars fit beneath the surface terrain of our city, so we placed the WarShips that would have been in their upper halves elsewhere; we added individual-ship horizontal hangars in some places, and vertical hangars for individual ships in other places.  This allowed us to fit in even more WarShips than previously thought possible, plus to have them aimed out in more directions, making deployment, whether in Space or anchored on a world, that much more efficient.

Original/Previous Layout:

Concepts:

Each of our city’s WarShip Hangars / Uber Hangars looks similar to what is in these following images; it is a gigantic hollow cylinder with devices built into its wall/s for docking, etc..  Miles-long ships ‘sail’ (hover/fly) in and out of these cylindrical hangars with room to spare.  Sometimes you might even see a hint of atmospheric haze at the far end opposite your position; these hangars are that big.
