This is where we build (3D-print) our ships which look like giant versions of the classic “UFOs”.

Introduction:

Formerly:  “The Main Womb” due to its size and location (though, technically, the WarShip cylinders, or the entire lower hemisphere of the city, could easily be called “The Main Womb”), this facility is for the 3D-printing and storage (docking) of the colony-creating Spaceships which double as atmospheric processors and terraformers in general.

Like how many sailors give their ships female names, and refer to ships as ‘she’ and ‘her’, Inisfreeans (ICVs) regard their own ship as a female, and that ship of theirs is their fully-mobile city; Inisfree is a starship, and the constructs and facilities within it, which produce the Inisfreean-born population and their smaller Spaceships, are, like this one here, called ‘wombs’ rather than ‘hangars’.

Purpose:

This facility was originally to mass-produce our type of Spaceship called a ColonyPod (CP), but then we learned how to 3D-print them in the hangars of even larger Spaceships.

Today, the Main Womb is where a couple dozen for-training ColonyPods are kept, each one “checked out” to be flown/hovered for 1 hour.

Dimensions & Layout:

This is the largest hangar in Inisfree (if you don’t count the private dimension in its core which houses an entire solar system), and contains 24 Colony Pods arranged in 4 vertical stacks of 6 each.  The width/diameter of this facility/hangar/cavity is ~2.5 miles, and it is ~2.25 miles up from its vast circular floor… to the bottom curves of the inside ends of the ColonyPod Hatches.  Its ceiling is nearly 3 miles above the floor.

Observe the Process:

Watch in this shadowy, mountain’s-belly enclave as biomechanical bulbs appear, hanging as if weightless along the blasphemously steep and ever-towering walls, and slowly grow into the giant, city-sized warships of Inisfree… floating just as silently and ghost-like up into the pitch black fade of the overhead, disappearing into their stand-by stacks, like bullets in a magazine, just waiting to be released…

*The “warships” mentioned above are not to be confused with our ships actually called WarShips; the ones mentioned above are the ColonyPods which are capable of being used in some of our engagements/wars.

Access Points:

There are six ways to reach this innermost, central-most, and largest of the Inisfreean hangars:

  • four (4) diagonal shafts for the Colony Pods to fly down into and up out of, allowing for two circuits of two-way traffic (one-way traffic in each of these shafts)
  • the route through the Overhang Base checkpoint out to the Tornado Crater
  • the G.A.H.‘s subway station at this hangar’s base (there is also a G.A.H. subway station near the topside entrance to the Overhang Base)

Schedule:

Basically the ColonyPods housed/stored in this chamber are flown out and back in regularly, forever allowing cockpit-crews (pilots and other ICVs) chances to practice maneuvering and otherwise commanding one of our largest sub-cosmic (below the scale of our world-sized vessels) ship-types.

  • 24 CPs from this hangar means 1 CP deploys (for training) every hour of the day.
  • 1hr flight loop
  • 2 miles up/out… + 7 to the beach spot… then double that to include the return = 18 miles, round-trip
  • assume 30 minutes at the beach; 15 minutes to deploy some forces, 15 to recall them
  • 30 minutes remaining; 15 minutes to go to beach, and 15 to return from it
  • 15 minutes / 18 miles = ~mile/minute; 60mph (average) while flying

*To save energy, and reduce wear & tear, only 1 CP hatch is opened, and it is not closed; it stays open year-round, except if Inisfree comes under attack.

15 minutes to deploy the selected forces/vehicles from the ColonyPod flown to the Beach LZ:

  • (~2mins per)
  • DS/s; hover down
  • BM/s; walk out
  • WR/s; drive out
  • TK/s; drive out
  • MPHA/s; fly out and land
  • FJ/s; just fly out, loop around their CP or DS closely, making as many laps as they have time for
  • ICVs (1 squad?); walk out in S.T. suits without hovering
  • 2mins x those 7 = 14mins
  • The remaining 1min is 30sec to open their hatches, then 30sec to close them once they exit.

Additional Notes:

The 24 CPs leaving on the hour every hour is why this hangar/factory is also known as “Inisfree’s clock”.

The route keeps the CPs over inhabited structures (residences and glamp sites) as seldom as possible; due south over the Avalanche Wall, over the SW CP Hatch, between the Beach Strip and Atlantis 2, then back that same way.

History:

Normally a cavern this wide would result in the snowy summit caving in, but as our Tunnel-Boring Machines (TBMs) were digging ever downward, the tentacles of our Grid Mind were weaving through the ceiling and walls, reinforcing them the way only a genius supercomputer designed to do such things can and will.  Each ColonyPod took a month or so to form, and was formed from the material the TBMs were excavating.  As more ICVs were printed and joined in down here, they helped with the assembly (printing), moving those excavated materials where they belonged.

There are 6 levels of CPs in here.

  1. The top one formed in the 3rd week of April of 2011, when this cavern’s floor was barely beneath them.
  2. The 2nd level down of 4 CPs formed in the 4th week of April.
  3. The 3rd formed during the 1st week of May.
  4. The 4th was during the 2nd week of May.
  5. Level 5 was during the 3rd week of May.
  6. By the 4th week of May, 2011, during Inisfree’s construction, the lowest level of 4 CPs was forming, and by July of that year, a year and a half before it would be time for the Inisfreeans to deploy for The Rapture, that final group of 4 CPs had formed.  (*The CPs in the Main Womb were not among those that deployed for The Rapture, by the way; only 5 WarShips did, each carrying its own CPs.)

Ships continue to be ‘printed’ here in order to keep a steady supply of them joining the forces in Star-System Auzdein (SSA).  This is because the work of the Inisfreeans in there is to build not just Inisfree-like cities, but entire moons, worlds, stars, and ships the size of all three, plus much more; they need all the help/reinforcements they can get.  For the next ~186 years (until their mass-deployment as a single mega-fleet in 2200 A.D.), ColonyPods will continue being printed/’grown’ in here (the Main Womb), out of which they will teleport themselves into SSA.
