The developer of her ‘world’ made her on purpose during its earliest years, and she became somewhat of a gatekeeper or early-warning system for new ‘players’ who arrived.

When the ‘program’ intended to be a copy of the developer’s mind and appearance began a genocide against the new race of programs which had spontaneously come into existence in the outskirts of their ‘world’, she kept a low profile while doing her best not to get mixed up in the politicking that was developing.

Gem & Auz:

Met in 2022 when Quorra finally returned to Tron, now immortalized by having met and befriended Auz, she married him just a couple years later –even before Quorra did. One trip to Inisfree was enough for her; she could plainly see this man was just as brilliant and god-level as her own maker. The Inisfreeans (ICVs) took an immediate liking to her –and not just because it is their nature to automatically love whomever their maker loves; Gem and them had much in common.

Gem was amazed when Quorra returned from the outside world, and became as curious and fascinated to hear more from her –and the new man she arrived with– as Quorra had always been regarding books from that side. (Imagine getting to read ancient tomes penned or printed in other dimensions, such as Heaven or Hell!) She continues to be amazed and curious as her first few years of explorations outside her home-dimension progress. Whenever she is feeling a little intimidated or overwhelmed, she holds Auz’s hand and a wave of comfort and confidence washed back over and through her, as if he is the stabilizing program for them all.

While Quorra knows the most about the secret spots in Tron, having worked so closely and directly with its developer once he’d become trapped there, Gem knows much more about the main city/metropolis and everyone who survived the genocide there –as well as many of the troops/programs who’d been created to go on that genocidal campaign to the outskirts beyond their digital civilization. She has begun introducing Quorra and Auz to as many of those people (i.e. ‘programs’) as they have time for during their returns. This makes her somewhat of a liaison for the two of them –and Auz has asked her if she would like to continue to be… forever.

As one of Auz’s wives, she is immortal and invincible now, no matter what; even the older and more powerful programs (people) in her realm (Tron) have no more ability to control or delete (“de-res”, as they call it) her. This hasn’t turned her into a loose cannon or tyrant, though. Perhaps that is in part due to Auz’s constant calming and unifying effect, but it is certainly also at least partially due to her being made as a mature and smooth operator hostessing many others in that realm.

Her role has now become to help Auz identify who in her realm is compatible enough with him to be allowed a trip outside Tron and into the dimension of its developer. Auz’s technology was designed to detect compatible humans and humanoids anywhere on Earth or within his/its range, not within ‘games’ such as Tron. He is grateful to her for her help –which started with agreeing to let one of his Inisfreeans (ICVs) scan her whole body/code to begin to understand that, the data from that moment now used to help the Grid Mind look fully into her realm to determine who all there is destined to get to meet him.

Even though Gem had only known her own ‘world’, she has trusted Quorra and Auz to show her theirs more than once now, and will continue to, getting more and more used to how much different things look and feel out there. They keep being very patient and loving with her –even making love with her out there, from time to time. Back in Tron, they celebrate returning from each of those special interdimensional outings by making more love where Quorra used to hide with her developer all those decades before –and this has not only ‘softened’ the rough-past memories for them at those spot, but also begun to have a curious stabilizing and greening effect; it is causing new spontaneous and ongoing programs-creation there, this time… of beautiful flora never before/originally coded into their system.
