Intro:
Heather is what you would expect an ex-lifeguard to look like; she has a slender, toned physique with long legs. Heather has very light blonde hair that is textured from sea salt, and bronzed skin from spending her free time on the beach. Her eyes are a cloudy blue.
Heather’s style is a relaxed one. She’ll often be found in variations of swimsuits as well as casual attire such as singlet and shorts combos, assorted hats and wraps. Heather also has a septum piercing, which is usually the first thing people notice about her after her height.
–
Personality:
Heather’s personality is almost the complete opposite of how she looks. She loves to be in control of every detail of her life, and is constantly striving to be the best she can be whether that is physically or in her career as a paramedic. She’s smart and logical but also extremely competitive and very self-critical. Heather is definitely unable to handle defeat or failure because she doesn’t really think of either of those things as an option. This means she can become easily stressed and high strung if she’s tackling a project that isn’t going the way she wants it to.
She is honest and straight forward with her thinking and tries to be open minded. Heather is enthusiastic to take on new challenges although she is sometimes reserved around people that she doesn’t know. She can come off as being rather aloof when she’s feeling confronted about something because she is particularly adverse to confrontation. She’d rather bottle her feelings than openly argue.
Heather has a great love for the outdoors and pushing her body to it’s limits so she can often be found training. Although she enjoys spending time alone, she has an ease when socializing with others. It’s sometimes difficult to realize how hard she is on herself when she can carry herself with the appearance of one that is completely relaxed. She does have a gentle nature and is often kind towards people. She has a fierce protective nature towards others, it’s a huge part of her personality to want to help and save people which is why she became a paramedic. Her desire to make a difference in the lives of others is that driving force.

“Shipper”
- Likes: Summer Breezes, Swimming, The Beach, Running, Her Brother, Birds
- Dislikes: Cold Weather, Smoking, Perfume, Pollution, Bullies
- Fears: Heather has the fear of failure, the fear of somebody she loves dying, the fear of being out of control of a situation, a fear of clowns and a fear of cats.
- Dreams & Goals: Heather’s goal is to save as many lives she can. It’s always been important to her to preserve life, a sort of calling she’s had since she first pulled her brother from a churning ocean. She originally set out to accomplish this goal by becoming a paramedic and now continues towards that same goal by shifting the focus on becoming an ace superhero instead.
Heather’s second goal is to achieve some sort of record in any physical competition. She’s completed hundreds of marathons and competed in the Iron Woman challenge. Her hope is that she won’t be excluded from potential feats because of her mutation since she’s virtually human unless somebody’s life is in peril.

History:
Heather was born on the Gold Coast, Australia, along with her twin brother, Davis. Her father, Shane, was part of the Coast Guard, and her mother, Natalie, was a marine biologist, so between both her parents Heather and Davis spent a lot of time on the beach and boating down the coast. This fostered in both of the twins a great love for the beach. While Davis turned his interests towards surfing, Heather was enrolled in the Nippers (junior lifeguards) from a young age.
Heather had a perfectly happy childhood, spending most of her spare time on Main Beach whether it was as part of her Nippers training or just hanging out with her friends in the surf. She was particularly close with her brother, sharing a bond with him that only twins are able to understand.
It was during one particularly stormy day when she was thirteen that Davis decided to go out for a surf despite his sister’s warnings that the weather was far too dangerous for it. Ignoring Heather, Davis went out with his friends and enjoyed the surf until a gigantic wave knocked him off his board the currant dragged him under. Heather understood in that instant that his life was in peril, and she found herself running into the surf before she could even comprehend why. Diving under, she was shocked to discover she was breathing in the salty ocean water. Not questioning it at the time, she managed to locate her brother and pull him out of the surf onto the sandbank where she revived him using the techniques she’d learned from her Nippers club.
Heather was left wondering exactly how she’d managed such a feat – she had ventured back into the water a number of times, experimentally diving under the water but being unable to recreate the phenomenon. Eventually forgetting about the experience, Heather turned her focus to her schooling. She had a determination to find a career where she could help people, so once she’d graduated high school, she studied to become a paramedic while volunteering as a lifeguard on Main Beach.
Heather lead a fairly ordinary life once she’d finished her training – spending time with friends on the beach, working as a paramedic to help save lives. It all changed however when she was called as part of a first response team to Surfers Paradise during a terrorist attack. Upon her arrival, Heather sprouted a pair of wings which she used on pure intuition to fly to the upper stories of a skyscraper to save civilians trapped there. Thus doing so made her an instant target of gunfire, and in response she manifested golden metallic skin which repelled bullets. Using the sudden super strength she developed in the moment, Heather managed to get the situation under control by using all gifts in combined wonderment. Once the criminals were detained, Heather’s new powers completely disappeared without trace.
While being detained in the local police beat department, Heather was unable to force the former powers to reemerge even when directed by her boss and the chief of police. She was allowed reluctant freedom once camera footage that was reviewed proved that she’d prevented carnage rather than caused it. Returning home, Heather was confused by what had happened since she was unable to access any of the powers she formally had. She was eventually approached at her work place by Alexander Summers who explained to her the nature of her mutation. She agreed to join the X-Men full time on their roster and also work as an on site medic as her colleagues and friends had began to distance themselves from her since her abrupt use of abilities.
–
Schooling:
Heather completed high school and went on to complete the tertiary education required to become a paramedic.
–
Abilities
Powers:
- Danger Detection Response: Lifeguard possesses a unique form of precognition. When she is in the vicinity where somebody is about to be hurt (herself included), her body reacts by manifesting physical changes to her body that will assist in saving them. While she doesn’t automatically know within her mind the details of events about to occur, her body does change in ways that will be directly helpful to the situation.
- Situational Biomorphic Adaption: Heather’s body has and can change in a number of different ways. She is able to change her body in multiple different ways at the same time, depending on the situation. She is unable to control or choose what transformations take place, and any physical manifestations disappear once the danger has passed.
- Wings: Heather can sprout a large set of yellow wings that allow her flight. They come along with a knowledge of how to use them – Lifeguard instinctively is aware of how they work, even if she is unable to explain how.
- Metallic Skin: She can manifest a golden metal armor that is impervious to damage from projectiles such as bullets.
- Gills/Fish Tail: Lifeguard manifests gills that allow her to breathe underwater as well as a golden fish tail that is physically reminiscent of a mermaid tail which affords her better swimming ability.
- Super Strength: Heather’s strength can increase depending on the situation. It can become increased just enough to allow her to carry more than one person in flight or alter dramatically to the point she would be able to lift up to 1500 kilograms of weight over her head.
Weaknesses:
Although Heather has access to a number of useful abilities, she is unable to call upon them on command. This means she won’t be able to demonstrate her powers or use them for any personal gain in day to day life. She also can’t prevent the changes from happening so if she were in public and somebody’s life was in danger, she’d immediately manifest one or more of her powers in plain view. Lastly, her powers are physical in nature, Lifeguard would be unable to manifest any mental or elemental based abilities.
Because of the nature of her precog’ ability, Heather’s powers do not manifest around somebody with a psychic shield or a mind that works too fast to track. While Heather would be able to detect if somebody meant harm to such a person, she would be unable to know if they planned an attack on somebody or if they were about to accidentally put their own lives in danger.
Non-Power Talents:
Heather has extensive medical training as a paramedic. She’s used to being on the first response team, so she’s able to work well under pressure. She is also an very strong swimmer and is skilled in swimming/running marathons.
–
Equipment:
Besides a first-aid kit, Heather doesn’t use much else in the way of weapons.
–
Additional Notes:
“Being a lifeguard isn’t nearly as glamorous as it is in that yank show.”
- Friends: Heather typically makes friends easily, she has no problem with keeping them either considering once you’re in her inner circle, she’ll go to great lengths to keep you there.
- Enemies: Heather doesn’t tolerate bullies or cruelty. If you do something that she deems unsavoury, you’re going to be on her ‘list’ for quite a while.
- Loves: While open to love, Heather doesn’t think of it as the most important focus in the world. She’d much rather focus on herself than try to look for somebody else to complete her.
- Other: Heather comes across as a tall blonde bombshell, but she has a sharp mind to match her physical prowess.

2022 Update:
Unable to meet at first (for years after they discovered each other; they were both so busy, and the remaining humans kept causing so many problems for their world), Heather and Auz maintained contact via an encrypted messaging service until the time was right for them to finally see each other in person and shake hands. The texts became flirty. The rest is destined history.
Heather was introduced to Sirena by Auz, and those two girls started working together whenever they could, both frequenting the same parts of The Land Down Under (pun not intended). By the time Auz got there, the two were in love, and they made a point to encourage Auz to join them. “First thing’s first.”
In the years ahead, Heather will be appointed to supervise all of her continent-sized island. The Inisfreeans only recognize true beauty, inside and out, and will not suffer a human to control such a realm (or any realm). “Lifeguard” has a storied future ahead –even more-so than her legendary “mutant” past.
She already knows that next year she will marry him; she cannot resist King Auz –nor he her.
…
This summer she started teaching Auz how to dive; he’d never learned how, and she was the perfect one for the job. After many practices and laughs, he finally got it right, at least for a beginner. She celebrated with him by making love to him right there in his pool. That’s when he asked her to marry him, and she practically screamed with joy, kissing him as best she could while being unable to stop smiling ear to ear. The two will be wedded on his main beach next summer.
…
Heather and Pele will soon start hanging out together with Auz, teaching and practicing diving and surfing, finally the partners and instructors he always wanted for both.
