Definition:

Sometimes they do more than just communicate with people on the other side, though; sometimes they help bring them back, restoring their bodies –although not always to the level of health they may have had before dying.

Details:

Meeting in the famous park under the weirdest of circumstances, Lilith and Auz remained standoffish for quite some time.  They were both clearly beyond the norm, creatures of the night, and that meant a certain level of precaution and investigation had to ensue.  It would be weeks before they linked back up again.

Once he realized she was not only a mortician, but a necromancer, he pushed through his initial reservations to get to know the woman a little better.  Experiments at cemeteries, morgues, burial mounds, and the sites of massacres and mass-graves followed.  This was the kind of advanced science so completely banned from mankind (not due to it being evil, but due to humans being brainwashed to stay evilly against any reunions or restoration of life, their Abrahamic religions all based entirely on the worship and continuation of death), and which Auz had always been drawn to; he was hooked, and kept joining her for more.

The global clean-up that changed the world, temporarily erasing all human civilization, came and went, leaving no more graves, morgues, or cemeteries for them to conduct necromancy work in.  The mass-graves and burial mounds of ancient ruins, however, remained.  It was there that, years later, Lilith and Auz began to link back up, practicing reanimating the dead.

Thanks to his participation, she began to see what she was doing in another light; it wasn’t just about ‘playing god’, or interfering with sites said to be off-limits; she was restoring some measure of animation and usefulness to those who had completely corrupted and lost their physical bodies.  In a way, even when only zombie-like creatures made their way back up from underground, she was reversing the horrible creation and disease called ‘death’.  This was the work of a good-natured being, not at all a bad or ‘dark’ one.

Over time, she became able to restore both animation and good looks, undoing all the grave-rot that almost invariably happened after every funeral and burial.  Other brave women with superhuman powers, such as those with the ability to amplify the powers of those in contact with them, might be able to unlock that final and highest level of Lilith’s skills; with their help, she may be able to fully revive even the long-since dead.  That would be the fulfillment of an age-old prophecy, too.

Lilith may one day work with Dr. Fairchild on the Regenesis project (restoring not only human bodies, but dead plants, such as wilted flowers and much more).  Their individual progress has been backed up and protected in Inisfree.  It is becoming probable that they will meet there to discuss options.

2022 Update:

Auz has had the clever idea of teaming Lilith here up with one of his wives who can open portals to Purgatory; Illyana, as well as with another of his wives, the one who has actually helped receive and employ a big portion of the spirits/people who died / left their Physical Plane bodies; Freyja.  Thanks to his effect on them all now spanning years, they are eager for this opportunity and will get along together perfectly, always starting off their hangouts and research projects in The Inisfreean Way; lovingly holistically, always and eternally polyamorous together –and that, of course, always helping ensure their minds and powers are functioning at their maximum potential, sometimes even beyond that goddess level (due to synergizing; amplifying one another).

In time… Lilith will be able to automatically reconnect the ‘souls’/spirits of people with their bodies, all just by being near one or the other (such as when she is in Purgatory, helped to get there and back by Illyana).  In time, she’ll also be able to tell which of them actually wants to be reunited with their previous form/body that way –and she won’t have any need or desire to continue the experiments that got her to that point; there will be no more need, her power having fully developed then.  For those who wish to temporarily leave their body to explore “the other side”, she’ll be able to keep such bodies animated and in perfect condition for as long as may be required.
