Introduction:

The Inisfreean ‘Owl’ hover-bike (abbreviated as HS, for Hover Saddle) is essentially just a black saddle on top of a tight grouping of repulsines. Not actually a full or complete ‘bike’ (motorcycle), this vehicle is somewhere between that and a hover-board; it is more akin to a flying jet-ski.  However, for simplicity’s sake, Inisfreeans (ICVs) refer to it as either their ‘hover-bike’ or just ‘the Owl’.  The reason for this animal naming convention is that during flight, it is normal and easy for the operator to turn her head around to look to their rear (such as for rearward firing of arrows or other weapons) -just as the animal owls can turn their head completely around during perching or flight.  Also, this name is due to how small the means of flight are in comparison to the ‘head’; the pilot (the ‘brains of the operation’).

Modes:

Like all Inisfreean transportation crafts, this one has the usual modes of

  1. standard (its matte-black paint-job),
  2. cloaked (invisible),
  3. masked (appearing like the void of Space), and
  4. nova (flashing or remaining extremely bright -instead of having just forward-facing head-lights).

Usage:

For individuals wishing to quickly cover a great distance without bothering (or being bothered by) others, the Owl is the go-to solution; anyone with clearance can summon one of these ‘hover-saddles’ and silently soar away.  This is particularly useful for sky-diving and wing-suiting, for the Owl can be by-mind commanded to auto-pilot its self ‘semi in tandem’ (flying just above or along side) the sky-diver as a back-up option.

The Governor of Inisfree himself is particularly fond of his matte-black Owl, having taken many a lucky lady miles up into the pleasantly cool Inisfreean sky and made passionate, skillful love up amidst the clouds, stars, and aurora, looking down upon the moon-like sphere of Inisfree’s Cloud City.

Time to Construct:

It takes only ~1 minute to 3D-print one of these vehicles.  That means that every second… another ~1.6% of an HS gets completed.

  1. ~10 seconds; seconds 1 through 10:  “bones”; frame/skeleton
  2. ~10 seconds; seconds 11 through 20:  “tendons”; secondary conduits/pipes, etc. (as the frame/skeleton is based on the Grid Mind mesh/tentacles; the frame of every Inisfreean vessel/construct doubles as its plumbing and electrical wiring)
  3. ~10 seconds; seconds 21 through 30:  “muscles”; intake valves, flaps, etc.
  4. ~10 seconds; seconds 31 through 40:  “organs”; repulsines, Vril reactor/batteries, etc.
  5. ~10 seconds; seconds 41 through 50:  windshield, lights, etc.
  6. ~10 seconds; seconds 51 through 60:  saddle padding/cushion

Though somewhat more massive than their Inisfreean riders, this vehicle is far simpler in terms of its function and internal workings than an ICV (because it is only designed to move a saddle around, not mimic voices, change its colors, have perfect sex, or generate an internal atmosphere for long-term passengers, etc.), thus it only takes half as long (compared to how long it takes to 3D-print an ICV) to be formed by the ICV’s song/sounds-based 3D-printing.

History:

While technically listed as part of Inisfree’s Star Fleet (military), the Inisfreeans have only used their S.T. suits to get/fly around.  These Owls have been a guests/residents-(non-ICVs)-only mode of transportation –though they are sometimes taken aboard larger transports vessels (for such people; residents or guests), such as the AF1 or MPHAs.  The Inisfreeans (ICVs) will show you how to use one if you like, and then it’s all yours.

  1. 2011:  the first prototype is conceived and designed
  2. 2012:  prototype 3D-printing and testing complete
  3. 2013:  Production begins at one part of the Military Vehicles Factory (as the Owl was originally thought of us a device for ICVs doing fast reconnaissance satellite-patrols).  Only a few hundred Owls are made this year, and they are rarely used outside of training and leisure.
  4. 2022:  Owls continue to be produced in Inisfree only by-demand; when a guest decides to reserve a vacation-home in Inisfree, and then wants one of these flying motorcycles, one Owl is 3D-printed for him/her.  ~1,329,411 people have been introduced to Inisfree by the end of this year, and ~13,294 of them have chosen to try out an Owl; there are ~13,294 Owls in Inisfree now.
  5. 23000/+:  With 2,000,000,000 people now allied with Inisfree and making regular/annual visits to this city, ~10% having a motorcycle of any kind, and ~2% being pilots, ~200,000,000 of them have a general idea as to how to operate an Owl, and ~20,000,000 have an Owl they are mastering.
