Some of them were born with a magical nature; the natural ability to be great at one or more of the magical arts (most-advanced sciences). To those, doing works of magic comes as easily as breathing. They might even do magic without being aware/conscious of it, such as leaving trails of new/blooming flowers wherever they have just walked.
Others had to discover their magical ability/ies, often then studying for many years to master it, hopefully with help from at least one already-magical teacher/master. Many of them wanted to see how much they were capable of, so they focused harder and longer than those who were born with magic, sometimes ending up surpassing members of that innately-magical group.
With such incredible abilities, they tend not to concern themselves much with nonmagical attire; they don’t often wear armor, unless it is articles of clothing which were enchanted (magically reinforced/upgraded).
They don’t always need a magic wand or wizard staff.
There is nothing evil about having more abilities/powers than dumbed-down menial-laborer surface-humans. If anything, the opposite is true; “normies” tend to think and do evil all the damn time, leaving/forcing magic-users to have to clean up their horrible scam aftermath/messes.
Whether the magic-wielder was born with magic or learned about it later on, they tend to be much better at sensing magic, whether that is having a gut-feeling about who nearby / in the room is magic-capable, too, or having that same kind of feeling regarding objects; they can often figure out if anything within their sensory range has an enchantment or curse on it, or even if someone is magically spying (a.k.a. “remote viewing”).
Just like there are dozens, if not hundreds, of majors one can take in college/university, there are a lot of subsets of magic, such as Green or Nature Magic (keeping plants and animals healthy, or at least healing them)… vs. Alchemy (changing elements/substances). There might not be anyone who knows them all, save the eldest and wisest of the gods.

2024 May: Diet
varies, though the longest-lived ones are usually vegan, excepting dragons who practice magic/sorcery –*However, being the most magical of all the demographics, some of them have learned how to magically create food out of thin air, with any properties they want, such as seeming entirely nonvegan… while not harming them during digesting (since it doesn’t contain the energy of tortured/murdered sentient beings).
