Introduction:

Automatic silo inventory and resupply allow this facility to operate at any hour without being staffed; the Grid Mind coordinates with the local A.I. platforms of each of the concerned, Inisfreean constructs in this sequence, adjusting crop growth, storage rotations, and shipping of raw materials (freshly-grown foods, in this case) -often via routed traffic (utilizing the Work-horse vehicles) or direct from harvest operation or storage silo to this facility via teleportation.  Jokingly called the FAP (for Food Automated Processing), this facility is state-of-the-art in food processing, identifying, sorting, isolating, packaging, labeling, and more.

* Each wing and room of this facility is hermetically sealed, preventing any potential cross-contamination, such as might discomfort those with food allergies (to gluten, nuts, dairy, etc.).

Dimensions & Layout:

This is our only circular factory, and it has a diameter of 330′.
Each of its main product categories has a devoted floor; there are 58 stories in this building.

3D-printers and ICVs work together to take raw ingredients brought from our Cropland… and get them mixed and/or packaged, ready for delivery to our Grocery Store (and sometimes to individuals ordering them for their home in Inisfree or a business meeting/event downtown).

All of it is underground.
Its rooftop looks like a continuation of the meadows right outside the Luxor II hotel.

To access it, you must be an Inisfreean Master Female assigned to drive one of the vehicles either

  1. taking ingredients/materials to it, or
  2. taking packaged products from it,

and those vehicles access this factory via its attached underground trucks parking garage… which has direct access to the nearby G.A.H. section.

Role:

(Pun!; ‘role’ and ‘roll’, such as bread rolls which can be produced here.)

At this expansive, predominantly subterranean facility, one will find the production of:

  • nearly all Inisfreean grains and grain-based food products (as the Cropland does not grow grains of any kind, such as wheat, rye, oats, or barley),
  • (vegan) dairy products such as creams and cheeses (although Inisfreeans encourage a minimalist approach to sampling both grains and dairy in Outlander diets),
  • mixed drinks (such as milkshakes and smoothies; Inisfreeans do not have or allow alcoholic beverages),
  • and other processed foods such as sports-bars and candies.

It is here that the majority of the more complicated culinary wonders are meticulously produced via autonomous supercomputer sous-vide; delicacies and luxuries such as:

Inisfree’s level of technology allows for the Materializers (a.k.a. Replicators) of Star Trek, however these are seldom utilized unless in a highly time-sensitive scenario.-

Any Inisfreean, having a rich and completely well-rounded education including Inisfree’s vast upgrades to the Outland courses of ‘home economics’ and ‘culinary arts’, is readily capable of easily producing nearly identical visual and flavorful wonders of the foods and drinks, but the role of the Inisfreeans is traditionally to use their bodies to pleasure other bodies directly, functioning as living plates and platters, while their conscious technology handles the remainder of their city’s impressive tasking, such as food processing, and the preparation and presentation of meals.

This facility makes some meals for our air/spaceline, but mostly just packaged ingredients for them, as our airline chefs tend to cook everything fresh / “to order” during the flights.

*Bread Weaves:

For each of our seasons and major holidays, we don’t just set our equivalent of Christmas lights (which grow/open like buds otherwise (for the rest of the year) concealed in some of our structures) to the colors traditionally associated with those respective holidays / times of year; we also make colored breads woven/braided of/with them, similarly to how our ICVs will their hair colors/strands/locks to change.  See our calendar for all the details of our holidays.  The following are the major ones’ colors –which we make our “bread weaves/braids” based on:

  1. Spring:  lime-green, lavender, pink
  2. Summer:  light-pink, pastel-yellow, sky-blue
  3. Autumn/Samhain:  purple, orange, yellow
  4. Winter/Yuletide:  red, white, green

For our Independence Day, we do not use red, white, and blue; we use the colors which represent us, which are the six main colors of the rainbow (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple).

Being considered as a side-dish in some of those vegan MREs:  my (Auz’s) favorite dal

2023 December update:  Civilian MREs

  • “The Heavenly Vegan” style premade (sometimes cookable/heatable) meals
  • These are the premade meals in our filling stations and grocery stores.

Exclusions:

What remains are all of the simpler foods which grow directly from the vine; the Cropland and the garden rooftops and window-troughs of every individual residence and restaurant produce all of their own fruits, berries, vegetables, nuts, herbs, syrup (such as Maple), honeys, and so forth.

Labels:

Ingredients labels/areas on our packaging always say what is in the product/food, not what might be; we do not allow labels such as “canola oil and/or _ oil”, or “natural flavors”, or food-coloring listed by a chemical number or just the name of the color.  Every ingredient has to be natural and listed.  No vagueness is allowed, and there are no legal loopholes regarding this law.

2024 April:  Package labels/icons such as “non-GMO” and “vegan certified” became popular, if not required, in some Outlands realms. We now have one of our own; “chemtrail-residue free” (because nothing is truly organic if under a sky sprayed with chemtrails).

History:

In 2021, this factory went from producing mostly cereal and almond milk… to all of the above.

In 2022, it also began producing:

  • baking mixes
  • dough
  • fortune cookies
  • vast variety of vegan products recently added to our grocery store/s

In the Spring of 2023, it also began producing pickled vegetables, such as okra.

2023 October:  R+D to get a delicious recipe for the first-ever pine-nuts granola-bar

If ever there was an issue with any part of this facility, such as a delay getting products assembled/packaged/trucked from one of its floors or individual production-lines, remember that we have these numerous backups:

  • sextillions of ICVs, all of whom know precisely how to prepare the very same things on the non-commercial scale; for individual guests and residents as they request particular products
  • identical Food Processing Factories in hundreds of thousands of other cities of our realm (once SSA is complete/operational; post-2088 A.D.)

2024 October:  radio discussion noticed about an “onion peel material alternative to plastic, paper, and cardboard packaging, does not smell”

  • Huid:  a material made from onion skins that can be used to create packaging similar to cardboard or flexible film.
Huid is a Dutch word that means “onion skin”. The material is made by boiling ground onion skins and binding them together with a natural adhesive. Huid is strong, waterproof, and has anti-bacterial and antioxidant properties.
The company behind Huid, also called Huid, is a Scottish start-up founded by textile designer Renuka Ramanujam.
  • Inisfree will be testing and possibly using this material next year, though of course manufacturing it locally.
