That is how the exterior of each building will look; all apartment buildings in the “Ancient Roman” apartments complex, for example, will look like what you would expect to see in ancient Rome, albeit a few stories taller per building, while all apartment buildings in the “Victorian” complex will look more like this.

Dimensions & Layout:

Each apartment complex is a 5 x 5 group of apartment buildings; there are 25 apartment buildings per complex.  Apartment buildings are ~66′ x 66′; they each occupy a 4,356 sq.ft. plot of land.  The space between each is the same; 66′ between 2 apartment buildings’ walls which face another apartment building.

Each apartment building is a 2 x 2 group of units (apartments) per floor, with 10 floors/stories; there are 40 apartments per building.  Each of those apartments is ~32′ x 32′; 1,024 sq.ft., and ~9′ from floor to ceiling.  Every apartment has two outward walls, and outward walls always have 1 door in the middle, flanked by 2 windows; 1 window on either side of the door, halfway between the door-side and wall-corner.

Inside each apartment is a central bed, a wall-less kitchen, a wall-less dining area, a wall-less living-room, a walled study (its own room with a door), a walled utility/laundry room (where the washer, drier, water heater, and cooler are), and a walled bathroom.

Features:

  • greenbelt around every complex
  • street (with parking) around every building
  • 32 covered parking-spaces (9′ W x 20′ D, with 1′ of space/landscaping between) around the base of each building; enough for 80% of the units in each building to have 1 parking-space at ground-level
  • rest of parking is on the roof; for hover-saddles parking and/or hover-shuttle drop-offs / pick-ups
  • 5′-wide sidewalk
  • 4 AIOWs per building
  • Each AIOW is just a stairwell with 1 ~3′-wide spiral (corkscrew) staircase around 1 ~2′-wide ‘lift’.
  • 1 AIOW per side of the building; each AIOW connects 20 apartments.
  • HOWEVER:  Each apartment has 2 AIOW options; 1 per outer side/wall.
  • fully furnished however you prefer –and the Inisfreeans (ICVs) will transport and install/position everything for you if you ask them to
  • soundproofed shared-walls (and they can teleport/portal it in; no need to carry it up or down the stairs / narrow AIOWs here)
  • beds in center so least noise
  • fireplace at foot of bed
  • sound-based fire-extinguisher system (as is standard for all of the residences and other buildings in Inisfree)
  • washer and drier are in the utility room with the water cooler and heater
  • shower is a step-in radial multi-person jacuzzi easily able to seat 4-8 (8 petite females), and multiple showerheads can produce a rainstorm or waterfall-wall effect
  • walking-distance bus and subway stations; expedited transport to all the rest of Inisfree
  • free pet (kajira) available with every unit (apartment)

Capacity:

With a 3/+ person bed and a 4/+ person-tub in every unit (apartment), technically the capacity of this neighborhood is not 450,000, but 1,350,000 to 1,800,000.

If you count the 16,800 parking-spaces (32 around the base of each of the buildings; 32 spaces x 25 buildings per complex x 21 complexes), and consider that vehicles of that size can house ~2 road-trippers, that’s another ~33,600 people who could stay/camp here (as temporary guests opting to sleep outside; in their vehicles).

That gives the Apartments Array a total possible capacity of 1,833,600, and perhaps double that during standing-room events; parties, etc..

Aesthetic & Beautification Focus:

It’s not about efficiency anymore, such as was the case with Soviet-block-era style buildings; it’s about unbridled art and design, and every last one of our constructs reflects that.  All of these apartment complexes are works of art and Feng Shui design all their own, as are each of their apartment buildings, and each of the individual apartments, each of which comes fully furnished long before any guests of Inisfree visit or move in.

Common Speech & References:

Sometimes these are called “apart-mints” because there are no dirty or unkempt apartments in Inisfree; they are all in mint condition.

Population Over Time:

Roughly 21 more people made this neighborhood of apartment complexes their home (or at least their 2nd/vacation home) every year from 2013 to 23000 A.D.; that’s ~1 more resident in each of the 21 apartment buildings here each of those years.

  1. 2013:  the first 21 guests or residents here
  2. 2022:  ~214 living in this neighborhood this year; ~10 in each apartment building
  3. ~23000 A.D. and beyond:  ~450,000 at capacity*

*Again, the capacity is actually greater than that; 450,000 people is if each person had his/her own apartment all to themselves.  Anyone choosing to live with others, or invite guests over for parties or sleepovers, has plenty of room to.

Novels Excerpt:

On the other side was the lower edge of the Apartments Array; a neighborhood of more than 20 apartment complexes which continued farther up this wedge of the central mountain’s slope. Every one of them was distinct in its outward design. Their color schemes were balanced and calming to the eye. Of their thousands of balconies, courtyards, pools, and rooftop lounges, none of them was absent a trough or garden with edible plants growing year-round, every one of those plants personally attended by the Inisfreeans on staff.

Inside, Lucifera would find that they were all luxuriously furnished and smelling like show-homes. Nothing was plastic, fake, or cheap. Marble countertops and tile floors were paired beautifully with sleek faucets and light fixtures. There was no wood or leather, and the carpets, an Inisfreean told her, did not out-gas. Even the glass was not really glass, but a far safer and stronger material; transparent aluminum.

Everything was arranged based on the principles of Feng Shui –and not just inside, from room to room; every apartment complex, the whole array of apartment complexes, and the entire city itself, all followed the actual and ancient guidelines of Feng Shui. In time, it was hoped and planned, the whole world and all the worlds would, too.

To get up and down from floor to floor, each apartment had not stairwells, but what the Inisfreeans called All-in-one-wells (AIOWs). They had this name because they had all the ways to traverse vertically; stairs, a slide, an elevator, climbing bars and ropes, even zip-lines. This kept the people in much better shape than having only stairs ever could, and she saw several having a lot of fun using their AIOW.
