Rainbow Desert

One of three deserts in Inisfree, this one spans two square miles, and includes a few different neighborhoods, as well as an oasis, ruins, and a dune-buggy range.

Introduction:

This section/region of Inisfree goes by a few names;

  • The Civilian Desert
  • The Lower Desert
  • The Rainbow Desert

This is because our desert plateaus are reserved for military / search & rescue training,
and because this desert here is not up on a plateau,
and because this desert is the one with the most colorful sand and water, thus multiple types/locations of rainbows in it.

The Rainbow Desert’s Sections:

  • Civilian Desert Region:  the dunes-desert (like that of Joshua Tree National Park)
  • Desert Ruins:  hundreds of sandy megaliths in a cluster concealing a deep pit’s stone lid and AIOW
  • Meeris Area:  the Moon-dust-like part of this desert, and the Arabian-themed tent town within it
  • Mountain on Corinthians:  just what it sounds like; fluted columns strong and massive enough to support the whole thing, with room to drive a three-story house under the base
  • Rainbow Dunes​:  an area of sands of every color, kept from mixing together
  • Ridge-line Building-chain:  a long set of mountaintop buildings connected like a classic medieval European town
  • Waterfall Oasis:  at the foothills down below the Ridge-line Building-chain
  • White Conexes Neighborhood:  a cluster of hundreds of shipping containers modified to be indoor farm units and luxury contemporary living spaces, some much like penthouses

Additional Notes:

Also worth checking out in this region of our realm are the jamborees.  These are (at least) annual gatherings of off-road vehicle owners and enthusiasts who like to practice and/or teach off-roading techniques.  Ask any Inisfreean girl for details.

Novels Excerpt:

After another leisurely breakfast, they were off along the G.A.H. to Inisfree’s lower of three deserts. Their route was from the Borg Cube-inspired condominium, past the Flower Towers again, then over Arch City, around a turn toward the Welcoming Square, back past the Tree-castles Complex, down through the Sea-tanks aquarium drive-through, around the airport she’d be flown in through, and through a shorter tunnel to its exit opening up to a small desert spanning just two square miles. There were shorter routes to get there, but they included surprises Auz was saving for another day of the tour.
