Origin
Mera was once an undersea queen in an alien otherworldly dimension commonly referred to as Dimension Aqua. Several years ago, a criminal named Leron seized control of the kingdom and deposed Queen Mera. Exiled from her kingdom, Mera fled Dimension Aqua for the Earth dimension whereupon she met the Atlantean sea-king, Aquaman. Aquaman and his sidekick, Aqualad, vowed to assist Mera in any way possible. Leron pursued Mera to Earth, and managed to capture her along with Aquaman. He brought them back to Dimension Aqua where they were imprisoned. Aided by the water sprite known as Quisp, Aquaman managed to free Mera and defeat Leron. However, rather than return to the throne to her kingdom, Mera elected to return to Atlantis with Aquaman.
As Mera continued to share in adventures with the sea-king, the two began to fall in love. The two were soon wed and Mera lived with Aquaman at the Atlantean Royal Palace.
Before long, Mera gave birth to Aquaman’s son, whom they named Arthur Curry, Jr., aka, Aquababy.
Less than two years later, Mera suffered the greatest tragedy in her life. Aquaman’s nemesis Black Manta kidnapped Arthur Curry, Jr. and confined inside of a translucent tank filled with poison. The child lapsed into a coma and Mera embarked upon an ambitious crusade to save him. She found the means to return to Dimension Aqua and fought against the tyrant Leron in order to learn the location of a special healing device. She discovered that Leron had taken all of Mera’s possessions and cast them away into the Great Pit. Mera braved the pit and fought against elemental monsters in order to retrieve the device. Her quest proved successful, but as she returned home to Atlantis, she found that she was too late. Arthur Curry, Jr. had died.
This ultimately led Mera to suffer a nervous breakdown. She abandoned her husband Aquaman, blaming his “weak genes” for Arthur, Jr.’s death. It was her belief that had her son been born of a man from her dimension, then he would have been strong enough to survive Black Manta’s attack. Their marriage dissolved, Aquaman left Atlantis, but Mera stayed behind. Her mental state continued to deteriorate until finally, one of the interim rulers, Lord Wexus had her committed to the AHARD-1 hospital center. She remained there for several months until such time that Aquaman returned to repel an invasion force of giant jellyfish. Aquaman tried to make peace with Mera, but she savagely attacked him. While attempting to defend himself, Aquaman accidentally pushed Mera too hard, impaling her upon an upturned piece of metal. Believing her dead, Aquaman had her placed inside a coffin and taken to the royal palace. However, as Mera is not native to this dimension, her vital organs are not located in the same position as a normal human’s. She in fact survived being impaled and rose from her coffin. With nothing more to say to Aquaman, Mera left the Earth realm and returned to Dimension Aqua.

Additional Note #1:
Mera was chosen as the deputy for the Red Lantern Corps during the Blackest Night storyline and after the battle Carol Ferris was able to use her ring’s power to keep Mera alive long enough for Saint Walker to remove the destructive effects of the Red Ring from her body with his Blue Lantern Ring. Afterwards she is happily reunited with her husband who was one of the people resurrected by the power of the White Lantern Corps.

Additional Note #2:
During the events of Brightest Day, Mera and Aquaman rekindled their love and the two began to work together, notably saving a group of children from abduction, but they are confused as Aquaman can summon zombie version of marine wildlife. Soon after she is forced to reveal to Aquaman her true history, that she was originally sent to kill him.

Powers
- Alien Physiology
- Amphibian: Though not overtly visible, Mera possesses a set of gills, which allows her to extract oxygen from the surrounding environment enabling her to breathe underwater. Mera can also breathe in an oxygen/nitrogen atmosphere, but only for limited periods of time.
- Dimensional Travel: Mera has the ability to travel between her native world of Dimension Aqua and the Earth realm. Her aptitude with this power has not always been consistent, and there have been occasions when Mera has been forced to find an alternate recourse for crossing the barriers.
- Hydrokinesis: Mera possesses the ability to increase the density of water within her immediate vicinity for a wide variety of effects. This ability allows her to create “hard water” objects, reshaping volumes of water into simple geometric shapes. Mera commonly uses this power to create water missiles, which she projects towards a selected target.
- Enhanced Durability: In addition to her ability to perpetually exist underwater, Mera also possesses enhanced density and muscle mass, allowing her to survive at ocean depths that would prove unsafe for normal humans.
- Enhanced Strength: Because of her powerful physiology her strength far exceeds that of humans allowing her to utilize this strength above water to topple obstacles and opponents.
- Telepathy: Mera possesses a limited degree of telepathy, which allows her to communicate with other Atlantean beings. Unlike Aquaman however, Mera cannot use this ability to communicate with lower order marine life.

Abilities
- Swimming (at superhuman speeds, and to superhuman distances –sometimes even supersonic)
- Hand-to-Hand Combat (Advanced)
–
Weaknesses
- Mental Illness: Throughout her adult life, Mera has had to deal with bouts of mental instability. This began after suffering a nervous breakdown following the death of her son and continued for many years. She was remanded to the care of the Atlantis Health and Rehabilitation Department and remained a patient at one of their facilities until finally returning to her native dimension. It has also been suggested that prolonged exposure to this reality may have altered Mera’s brain chemistry, exacerbating her prolonged mental health issues.
- Vulnerability to Lead: Exposure to lead will rob Mera of her hard-water powers.

2020 Update:
She and her twin-sister now have regular (usually monthly) fuck-date meetings with High King Auz, both in Inisfree and their own realms. Whenever they can, they enjoy a threesome or two together. This helps keep them more powerful, balanced, and focused on their shared visions than anything ever before.
Mera has been introducing thousands of all the sexiest mermaids from her oceans (the north and south Atlantic) to Auz. Many of them have started orienting to his realm and culture. Some will become representatives there of their kind back home, and even become his latest wives.
Having made it through The Shift (2012, plus its nearby years) and been found wonderful and worthy (compatible with the Inisfreeans), they have reliably aided in her recovery from the understandable mental illness that befell her upon the loss of her son. They explained to her that it was not her fault at all; the entire reality had been set in a self-deteriorating direction, resulting in realms separating, then worlds from each other, then worlds into layers, then massive portions of layers from one to the other (such as when The Firmament/s fell, becoming the first land-oceans), then families and family members into nations and factions, then individuals or parts of themselves (such as in accidents, loss of limbs, mind-fractures, etc.), and finally as microscopic internal “wars” (via viruses in both animal bodies… and digital ones). Only now; post-Shift, were they on a course that was re-stabilizing and reuniting all those who were always meant to stay “as one”.
Will Mera get her son back from “the other side”? Already, her mind has stabilized, the Inisfreean wisdom and method/s having cured her of her breakdowns illness. Already, they have reestablished contact with so many long-separated realms, and even resurrected or “plucked” (evacuated/liberated) people right out of (the) time (stream), so… it won’t be long.

2021 Update:
After spending a lot of time with Auz in Atlantis II, the Neptune Temple, and swimming along Inisfree’s own colorful reef, she finally feels like most of her healing is complete. She has also enjoyed going with him to and through the ponds, the drive-through aquarium, and SCUBA City. Her residence when in Inisfree is one of those in Waterfall City II, and she takes waterfall-showers and waterfall-pool baths with High King Auz no matter which Inisfreean waterfall (or water-rise) they are around.
She has started joining Auz on his expeditions underwater all across (throughout) the Atlantic, as well as into other major bodies of water. This includes to the underwater stumps of the former (interdimensionally-hidden) World Trees out (down) there. Eventually, he’ll go with her on an expedition to and through Dimension Aqua.
Lovemaking with him in all those places has worked wonders on/for her soul/spirit/all. He really is a master (and source) of Vril, the highest love/energy/medicine/oneness. When she has the usual fluctuation-based partial-regressions into her understandable depression, he and Vril are always there to pick her right back up, restoring the sparkle in her beautiful eyes, and the spring in her sexy step.
It is unknown if she ever plans to reproduce again. Whatever her decision in the decades ahead, she is once again… happy. This is, one should note, also part of the process of stabilizing all the people and realms, and bringing unity, healthily steadily decreasing fragmentation.
One day… many millennia from now… the oceans will be higher like they once were; they will… as in the Beginning… connect ALL the lands –including those on other worlds. All was once in one ocean; Space (Abyss/Hell) didn’t always exist. All was once… Dimension Aqua.
Mera has been instrumental in helping safely unthaw Antarctica back to its original pre-cataclysm state. This has revealed many more of its ruins, all without the worry of laser-based thawing damaging any of them. She has also proven talented and gently getting water back in the un-petrifying World Tree stumps, and in keeping even surrounding ocean water away from those that used to be too waterlogged to finish returning/re-growing.

2022:
Friday 26 August (Saturn’s-day 14 Agharta): Mera telepathically asked me (Auz) to meet her when she returned via the Neptune Temple portal, and we kissed down there very lovingly while floating in the crystal-clear blue of Inisfree’s perfect water. Then we swam up to the surface outside this temple and kissed some more, bobbing up and down slightly with the gentle low waves. Resting our foreheads together, we breathed and smiled, still hugging, our legs still tangled up adoringly, and then we swam to shore and held hands all the way up the beach while we began to chat, ‘catching up’ with everything before kissing some more and then making love on the beach.
…
During our Vril-level lovemaking, we telepathically discussed how Atlantis ‘sinking’ was actually it rising toward the shared-core –thus it was humanity on the land that was really falling/sinking, etc.. In other words, Atlantis never sank; it ascended toward the hollow core; the rest sank… by ending up on this outer surface below the ocean, i.e. facing the Abyss; Space.

2024:
This is the year Mera and I got married, and we’ve stayed happily married ever since.
…
Aquaman also goes by Orin.
…
There is no plague hurting her people, like the retarded Hollywood sequel added in due to Hollywood’s standard template of mindlessly including all races, race-mixing, and whatever else its target-audience retardedly believes in; Atlanteans, like all wise beings, can’t get sick –because they don’t poison themselves like humans do with pharmaceuticals and nonvegan ‘food’.
