We used to get told in Boot Camp that amusing yet focusing little rhyme, “It is not to question why; it is just to do or die.” What our instructors meant by that was that we should not hesitate, nor should we over-analyze things; we should confidently maintain forward momentum, and charge ahead at times, daring, and of course with some impressive showmanship. Since fulfilling my commitment to that training and organization, it has, however, become wise to really pause and assess my whole life situation, isolating all the variables and boiling things down until I determined exactly what my “why” was, as I was now the guide and commander of myself –and always would be, here to forth.
A sense of purpose is what most people search for if they don’t already have one. “The why” is important like that; it is the motivator, the fuel, the starting point. For those already navigating through life, if they don’t have it, it can become a powerful “calling” guiding them back onto a track which feels just right.
In the military, the why was simple and spelled out for us; we were to do what we were told, exactly as we were told, not more nor less, because that was how teamwork and winning were done, and that was how we would protect those back home, and –if we were lucky or chosen– make it back, ourselves. This was what worked for us back then, and the majority of us did make it home after living by that reasoning. We have since gone on to do our best to protect good people in additional ways, always with that same extreme level of commitment and bravery, but now with a slightly amended “why” for each of us.
Why do I do all this, this site work here? Because I always sensed something wasn’t fully right about the civilization we were living in, as many of us did –and still rightly do. I began to see a better way, then took the time to travel to where I could meet and learn from people who had pieces of the proverbial puzzle that was the answer. My “why” became to find answers –lasting fixes– to all the bizarre unhealthy things I was encountering during my travels, as well as the best way to combine all of the perfect things I was finding –where their wonderfulness could no longer be soured or spoiled by being mixed in randomly with the former.
I write about what actually keeps things sustainable, which is a shared vision of what makes one fully at peace (not just how to grow food or build a low-cost shelter, but how to keep what you establish attractive and inspiring, thus holding your focus, thus maintaining it in a way that is arguably magical, far beyond structural or mechanical). Normal survival techniques aren’t enough, as some of us have already found; that is enough to ‘get us by’, but never enough to really satisfy and uplift or complete any of us. Uniting with somewhat likeminded people also historically never works in the end; we need full compatibility, and that is possible… when we hold that desire and vision long enough.
I blend innovations with content for mature audiences; I make sustainability sexy, exciting, surprising, much like a good adventure game or bestseller. This is not a boring politically-correct site. This is the Game of Thrones of sustainability source material; it is real and interesting, not dry and lackluster, and certainly not predictable and bland.
I state obvious truths, and truths which required some ‘digging’ –sometimes literally, such as at expedition sites. I state things which need stating; things which the current society or civilization is not doing enough to acknowledge and address. I state them here in this way so that they will remain, free from and above the nonsense of forums so often plagued by bots and attention-seeking ‘trolls’.
I like thinking and speaking of myself and my loved ones in a positive and amazing way. It isn’t enough to just be generically kind or polite. We can unlock and achieve far greater levels and states of being by uplifting each other to the highest degree, no longer limiting ourselves to mere normalcy and prefabricated manners. (More specifically, I don’t just tell people, “Awesome work!” When someone proves to be a really good person, I deify them, and not just in my creative writing and books; I view and think of them as a real-life superhero, as that is what helps unlock and uplift them to their next and highest levels. Normal compliments just cause a split-second smile that is forgotten within the hour, and that isn’t good enough for these great friends.)
Most people I’ve encountered or read the works of always wrote the same kind of story; everyone (every character) was in different families and on opposing teams. There was no true understanding developed or even cultivated or attempted between them, and that sent a very negative and gloomy, pessimistic, regurgitated message. In this website and story, on the other hand, everyone is in the same family, and all teams are working together against the people impersonators, but in the cleverest of ways (i.e. not humankind’s default brute-force –which has a long history of being fully undermined from the start and through to each chapter’s end).
This site is my vision board; I put things here which motivate me, and which have become wish-list items or part of my goal. I put everything here, which shows the full me, which results in the perfect filter; all who aren’t bright enough to get it… turn away. All who are born fools and enemies… identify themselves with their self-destroying ‘flak’. The only people who stay… are those who have seen the full me… and accepted it. (The best also happen to love what they see here, telling me it was exactly what they needed, and that it was the best thing they’d ever encountered, as they’d been longing to find this validation all along.)
The why is always the same; be my full self, honor and embrace the full real me, and no longer search or ask for what is right and best and deserved; just build with what I’ve found and extracted, and build in the one proven way that keeps in all the good, and out all the bad. I just wait now… from this established position. Any who are good will hear or feel this calling I have created, and do what it takes to get to me –and only in the appropriate way; respecting me, i.e. my culture and requests, not needing or seeking any explanation, for they will have done their homework, so to speak, already fully understanding our shared why, it resonating in their very bones.
Much of the writing here and elsewhere came true, and it continues to manifest at an increasing rate. Just as my ideas once appeared at random, and I made notes about them, not yet seeing how they might fit together back then, so have the manifestations started appearing in the flesh during my many outings and adventures, one day soon… sure to come together in unity just as well as all my ideas and writing have. Our time has come.
I will never try to appeal to everyone, polite though I do my best to be. I will not spend my irreplaceable time explaining myself; that is on you to resonate with or figure out. What I will do… is continue to move forward in the way that has proven appropriate for me, given my talents, knowledge, and calling.
I have my why, clear and bright as day. I have become the why for others. Some of them have become part of my why, too.
Sincerely,
A°
