Details:

Cordelia has always strived to set herself apart from her family in any way she could, taking the “black sheep” role rather literally. Her naturally light-brown hair has been dyed black since she was a teenager, and she’s always turned to a more gothic style for her clothing. The only semblance Cordelia shares with her sisters are her piercing blue eyes, and even those she wishes she could dye. As she’s gotten older, Cordelia has become much more tasteful in her gothic attire, but never the less, she still ‘screams’ rebel.

Cordelia has found joy in decorating her body with tattoos, so with that said, she has many. Cordelia’s arms are decorated with tattoos that depict both the good and evil within man, each arm conveying the opposing moralities. Her favorite piece? The tattoo of a sun on her navel, circling around her belly button- a tattoo she got back when she was a teenager on vacation in the French Riviera. It served both as another means to piss her daddy off, and as a statement that she wouldn’t conform to her family’s hoity-toity aesthetic.

As the years continued to pass by, Cordelia has maintained her appearance. She wears her hair no longer than shoulder length, usually wavy, and she’s never been one to shy away from applying a smoky eye, even if it’s only noon. She prefers to keep her nails short and manicured, painted in only dark colors.

It’s often hard to know what Cordelia is thinking through her apathetic countenance, and most of the time, she prefers it that way.

Personality:

Cordelia has always been the black sheep of the Frost family, but if you’d ask her, she’d say she was always the most fun. She tends to be pretty open-minded when it comes to trying new things, whether they be sexual/romantic partners, drugs, or even food. In contrast to her family’s up-tight behavior, Cordelia has always been much more easy-going, taking in whatever’s going on around her and simply moving on which often makes her seem insensitive. She’s never really been one to dwell on the past. To grow up in the Frost estate, you had to have a thick skin and when you become the family screw-up, your skin becomes thick as armor.

Cordelia has always been bad at expressing her emotions, despite her ability to sense and understand others. The therapist her daddy made her go to would say she had “intimacy issues”, whatever the hell that meant. If you asked any lover she had, they would say she was quite the… affectionate lover. Hell, her powers even forced her to understand people on a more intimate level. But even still, Cordelia usually internalizes her emotions rather than sharing them, which has caused her to develop a very apathetic, if not ‘bitchy’, attitude towards many things, and even people, in her life. This is why she prefers to be high or intoxicated when she can be. It’s easier to not feel than to feel bad.

It is no surprise that Cordelia is quite the rebel. If there’s a rule to be broken, she has probably already done so. She enjoys going against social norms, always being the one to go out of her way to shock and awe. Her therapist used to tell her it was because she was always looking for attention she didn’t receive from her parents, but what the hell did he know anyway? To Cordelia, life is a party: Why turn the music down, when you can turn it up even louder?

“Shipper”

  • Likes:  Art of many different forms. Marijuana. Nice tattoos. Bad boys. People not afraid to stand out. The grunge age of the 90’s. Trouble makers.
  • Dislikes: Her family, particularly Adrienne. To an extent, her abilities. Heroin. Being told what to do. Cliché tattoos. Overly critical people. Conservatives.
  • Fears: Becoming overwhelmed by her own emotions. The feeling of fear. The feeling of guilt. Feeling the overwhelming sentiments of others. Being abandoned by those she cares about.
  • Dreams & Goals:  Cordelia dreams of having a life of her own, not labeled by her family’s name. She wants to be able to look back on an accomplishment and revel in her own hard work. And most importantly, she wants to make her daddy realize how wrong he was about his daughter, despite her appearance and general attitude towards him.

History:

(this section’s text copied in, work in progress, reviewing to correct any attempted degeneracy normalization/insertions from the writer)

Cordelia was born the youngest daughter of four spoiled brats, sired by Winston and Hazel Frost. Winston Frost held the title of the second richest man in the state of Massachusetts, which meant that the Frost children were never left wanting for much. Her oldest sibling, Christian, was the only son Winston had, so he took particular interest in raising his son to be the next conservative man to inherit the family’s fortune 500 company. Then there was the blonde devil herself, Adrienne, who would probably sacrifice her first-born child just to get daddy’s approval. And after Adrienne came Emma, who was almost as much of a disappointment of a daughter as Cordelia, but still, Emma tried. And finally, there was Cordelia, the misfit child.

Growing up, Cordelia never felt a close relationship with any of her family members. Emma had Christian and Adrienne had… well.. herself, which left Cordelia feeling alone in the family’s estate. Winston provided only the best academic opportunities for his children. He expected them all to be straight ‘A’ students, and the best at everything they did, as was the Frost way. Fortunately for him, Cordelia excelled in school. She maintained slightly above average grades in all of her classes, but as cliché as it may sound, she found a particular joy in art. There wasn’t a form of art Cordelia didn’t like. Music, painting, drawing, sculpting, and even photography all ranked in her favorite forms of expression and all of which she was brilliant at.

Despite her passion for art, Winston was not amused. He made remarks on her pieces, calling them “A waste of time” and “Pointless garbage”. To daddy, if your passion wouldn’t make you millions, it wasn’t worth pursuing. “Why don’t you focus your time on actual studies, Cordelia, like Adrienne and Christian have.” But Cordelia didn’t want to be like her brother and sisters, she wanted to be Cordelia. So in spite of her daddy’s words, she continued to love and be mused by art, eventually, when she was entering her pre-teen years, taking the freedom of expression she felt and applying it to her everyday appearance.

To say her parents disapproved of her new look would be a GREAT understatement. Her mother cried, and Winston arranged for her to see a counselor every week, but Cordelia couldn’t care less. Everything from her new, short black hair that matched her predominantly black wardrobe was who she was. She embraced the black sheep label that was unspokenly assigned to her by her family, and she made it look damn good.
Cordelia didn’t care what the preppy girls around school thought of her new appearance. She felt comfortable in her clothes and remained unapologetic as she went through school as the new goth girl on the block. She had always related more to the rejects on campus, having felt like an alien trapped in her own home. The few friends she actually had embraced her new look, and for the first time, Cordelia felt like she belonged.

For the next few semesters, Cordelia and her friends earned quite the reputation as the “Bad Girls” of the school, engaging in unruly behavior. Getting into fights, stealing, smoking pot in the school’s bathrooms; nothing was beneath the rebellious teenager. Her logic was pretty simple: If Cordelia wanted to do it, Cordelia would do it. With a family that already gave up on her and a daddy whose money and status continued to keep her away from expulsion (not to mention jail), there was no one around to stop her.

Before too long, chaos engulfed the Frost family. The every-day scrutiny of her daddy shifted from the black sheep to the second most disappointing daughter, Emma. The girl was starting to lose her mind; ‘constantly’ (often) collapsing in school, butting heads with daddy, and even smooching her former teacher! Cordelia herself couldn’t make this stuff up. It was around this time the Frost family also discovered Christian was poly, and that daddy was getting handsy with a French woman behind the back of a willfully-oblivious mommy-dearest.

It was chaos at its finest. Through most of the issues, Cordelia remained unmoved, moving through time sometimes in a drugged-out haze. It wasn’t until daddy and Adrienne scared off Christian’s lovers that things really began to wear on the young girl. After her brother’s attempted suicide, Cordelia began to become much more introverted. She pulled away from her friends, spending most of her time in her room, alone. There was something wrong with her, something different. The intensity of everything that was happening to her family was beginning to wear on her more than it ever had in the past. It was like she could feel the heightened emotions of the Frost family. She was beginning to sense how the people within the household felt, despite how they pretended to feel on the surface.

One day, after Christian returned home from the hospital, he called Cordelia into his room to talk. She didn’t know what to expect as he spilled his guts to the girl. She had never seen her brother like this before. The depression he was feeling radiated from his body, each tear engulfing Cordelia’s senses more and more until images –no, memories– of Christian and his lovers flashed through her mind. Her brother wanted help… He wanted to be numb, and Cordelia, for once, wanted to be there for him. After pulling a few strings with her friends, she got exactly what her brother wanted; drugs.

Things only seemed to get worse after that day. Cordelia continued to feel these strange things, while Christian descended down a dangerous path of drug abuse. Emma continued to cover for their brother, trying in vain to keep his problem hidden from their daddy, while Adrienne…. Well, Adrienne stuck to her own agenda. Even after everything the Frost family had already been through, things had yet to reach a tipping point. It wasn’t until daddy threw a small party at the Frost estate, where he announced that not only was Emma going to be the heir of the family’s fortune but that Christian would be taken to some asylum for the mentally disturbed.

The anger Cordelia felt radiate from her sister that day was overwhelming. Emma stormed out of the war zone that was the Frost household and wasn’t heard from after that, at least not for a while. After Emma left, Adrienne, of course, had her say on the matter, while Winston seemed unmoved, which was typical for daddy. Too overwhelmed by everyone else’s emotions, Cordelia left the party with a serious headache. She retreated to her room, where she smoked away the feelings of everyone else’s problems.

As the months went by without Emma at the estate, Cordelia’s abilities continued to develop which invoked a sense of annoyance and frustration within the girl. She couldn’t figure out what was wrong with her. She had seen stories of mutants all over the news stepping forth, fighting a battle for equality against the oppressive humans. As she watched these different stories, she began to ponder and make connections with her own condition. A new curiosity was sparked within the girl, and she began doing some research on her abilities, discovering that there were other people out there with similar experiences. Cordelia concluded that she was to be considered an Empath, a discovery she was not so fond of.

It wasn’t long before yet another problem arose within the Frost family. The family received a tape explaining how Emma had been kidnapped by some gang leader who was holding her for ransom. They demanded money from the family and stated that if the tape aired anywhere, they would kill her. The video was shocking, but daddy’s reaction was even more surprising. She could sense that he honestly didn’t even care… Cordelia couldn’t understand how a man could be so heartless to his own offspring. It wasn’t until one morning Cordelia came down for breakfast and saw Emma’s face all over the news stations that daddy really got involved. Adrienne came forth and stated she had sent the tape to the news station, despite the gangster’s warning. After a strong backhand to Adrienne’s face, Winston cooperated with the man, reluctantly sending him the money they requested to a specific location. It was later discovered that authorities found the bodies of the individuals that kidnapped Emma, with Emma and her daddy’s money nowhere to be found. The situation made Cordelia wonder how Emma could have escaped a situation like that. Was Emma a mutant too?

Cordelia remained home with her parents for the duration of her high school career, graduating from the same private school her sister, Emma, attended. Disgusted and eager to leave the hell that was her daddy’s presence, Cordelia enrolled at the school of the Art institute in Chicago. Once she was accepted, Winston, who was just as eager to get rid of Cordelia, paid for her tuition in full and sent her away. She flourished in her new environment, taking up studies in art history and critiquing, as well as improving her art skills. She was inspired by the emotions she felt from the people around her and incorporating that into her work set her apart from her peers. She loved what she did, and for once in a long time, Cordelia was happy.

During her final year in Chicago, Cordelia fell for the handsome lead singer of “Tears for my Valentine”, Alexander Darko. Alex and his friends started the underground rock band back in high school and lately, they were on the upward rise to fame. It was in a local coffee shop that she first laid eyes on Alex during one of their bookings. After the show, he approached the girl and after exchanging numbers, the two began a very beautiful relationship.

Towards the conclusion of Cordelia’s final semester at the Art institute of Chicago, Alex and his band received a contract opportunity with a producer out in New York, and he wanted her to go with him. Cordelia had actually come to really care about Alex and with the conclusion of her school work, she was looking for the next best opportunity. So with her new degree and the love of her life, Cordelia made her way to the city that never sleeps.

Their first few months in New York were difficult. Money was tight, and Cordelia found herself struggling to put her degree to use. She started an internship with a tattoo studio down in the Bronx, excelling at her work and impressing the shop’s owner, but clients were slow to schedule appointments with the new artist. Alex and his band were still in the process of producing their new album, playing some smaller gigs in the meantime just to keep money flowing. Having grown up in such an aristocratic lifestyle, Cordelia wasn’t used to struggling like she was. It was new and it was stressful, but despite how stressful it got, she refused to phone daddy and ask for his help.

The strain of their financial struggles began to take its toll on Alex and Cordelia. The two were arguing more, and Cordelia found herself using harder drugs just to stay content with their environment. But one day, she could sense something was off about her lover. Alex was distant, and the energies that radiated from him made her feel disgusting. As each day passed, the feelings got worse. Images of Alex and some woman kept haunting her in her sleep, but she just tried to disregard them as only nightmares fueled by hidden insecurities. It wasn’t until Cordelia came home early from work one day that she discovered Alex had been cheating on her with some groupie, the same groupie she’d seen in her dream.

Cordelia was devastated, and she quickly ended her relationship with Alex. Even though she wanted to leave the apartment Alex and she shared, she didn’t have the finances to do so. Reluctantly, she swallowed her pride and phoned daddy for help, the first time she had spoken with him since she got to New York. After convincing him she wasn’t on drugs and that she was actually building her career, Winston granted her permission to stay in the family’s condo located in the wealthier part of the city. But, of course, there was a condition Winston laid down for his daughter; She would not be allowed to stay there longer than a year and she was subject to random drug tests. Pissed off, but with no other choice, Cordelia agreed.

It was a long year for Cordelia, but she had managed to make significant progress in her career. She had been offered a position at the tattoo shop she apprenticed for, and she was booking appointments much more frequently than she had been. The newly driven woman also raised enough money to move into her friend, Nicole’s, apartment where they would split the cost of rent and utilities. Though it wasn’t the prettiest place for a rich girl to stay, it would be home for the youngest Frost sibling. It must have been months since Cordelia communicated with Adrienne or her parents and even longer since she’s spoken to either Emma or Christian. There are times that she thinks about reaching out to them, but it’s not long before the thoughts are shrouded by a cannabis-induced haze. Little did Cordelia know that her life would be flipped onto its head again.

One night, while Cordelia was out at the bars, she experienced a very sudden sensation of horror and dread. Her mind immediately snapped to her roommate, Nicole, who during their time living together had grown intimate feelings for Cordelia and vice versa. Hurrying home, Cordelia made her way into her apartment only to discover the lifeless body of her former companion and a surprise visitor waiting for her in the shadows. The Mutant Response Division managed to track down the youngest sister of the notorious Emma Frost and the agent sent to collect her was determined to kill her. Fighting for her life, Cordelia discovered the alarmingly powerful capabilities of her powers before succumbing to exhaustion just in time for her telepathic sister to discover the traumatic scene.

Waking from a month-long coma, Cordelia discovered she’d been saved by her sister, Emma, and brought to one of the last havens for mutants, Xavier’s mansion. Emma revealed that Cordelia was unjustly framed for the murder of her late sweetheart, Nicole, and was now just as wanted as she. Cordelia’s carefully constructed life was ruined. With nowhere to go, she was forced to accept her sister’s offer to stay with her and the many students of the university.

Schooling: Cordelia graduated from a private university in Massachusetts. She later attended college at the Art Institute in Chicago where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in art and design. Cordelia is also a licensed tattoo artist.

Abilities

Powers:

Empathy: Cordelia has the psionic ability to sense, interpret, and replicate the emotions, moods, and temperaments of the sentient beings around her. This allows her to use that information to her own benefit, having the knowledge to personally or emotionally attack someone based off of their current mindset. She is also able to detect an emotion, even if it is hidden by another, often allowing her to accurately predict someone’s true intent. The emotions of others can present themselves in different ways to Cordelia. More commonly, they appear as colors, radiating from one’s person. The closer she is in proximity to someone, the easier it is for her to read them. Cordelia is even able to extend her power, allowing her to track someone’s sentient being across great distances and even different planes of existence. This is also known as Clairvoyance.

Cordelia also has other manifestations of this ability:

  • Clairaudience: When emotions become so heightened, Cordelia has the ability to not only feel the emotions involved but also hear and sometimes see the upheaved thoughts or images directly related to that specific emotion. This is said to be due to the close relation of the emotional and mental areas of the brain. Though she is able to hear things outside the range of normal perception, that does not mean she is telepathic. She is only able to hear the echoes of the thoughts associated with the emotion, not full memories.
  • Empathic Projection: Cordelia is able to project feelings onto others.
  • Empathic Inundation: It is possible for Cordelia to overwhelm an opponent with a flooding of unwanted emotions and sentiments, which may make her combatant fall unconscious, experience mental pain, and in severe circumstances, cause them to meet their death.
  • Emotion Negation: On the opposite spectrum of her Inundation ability, Cordelia may also cause others to feel no emotion, or even negate selective emotions. This may cause her target to ignore emotional distractions that may influence their actions, as well as make them feel detached, indifferent, and in extreme cases, catatonic.
  • Tel-empathy: By exchanging her own feelings with another person, Cordelia is able to communicate through emotions. Through training, she has been able to send echoes of her own thoughts to another person.
  • Lie Detection: Cordelia is able to sense when someone is not being fully honest with her, due to the influx and conflict of their emotions. She is also able to figure out what exactly is the lie and search for the truth through selective questions and monitoring of their emotional responses.
  • Sentient Connections: When Cordelia feels passionate about someone, she can unintentionally form an empathic bond with them, a connection that causes her to sense their emotions even without them being there, as well as sense the experiences related to said emotions. Through training, she is now consciously able to form these connections.

Weaknesses:

  • Headaches: If Cordelia begins to feel too overwhelmed with the emotions of others, she is prone to experience intense migraines that can leave her out of commission for an undetermined amount of time. To exert her abilities at intense levels may also cause Cordelia to become faint, and may even render her unconscious.
  • Apathy/Non-Sentient Beings: Apathy is the bane of any empath’s ability. It is hard to read the emotions of someone or something that does not feel. In an ironic spin, Cordelia’s own apathy deters her from exploring the vast areas of her own ability.
  • Mood Swings: After being exposed to many different emotions, some more overwhelming than others, it isn’t uncommon for Cordelia to have random mood swings. For example, one moment, she may be happy-go-lucky, but after being exposed to someone who may be feeling depressed, even for just a few moments, it may cause Cordelia to adapt some depressive feelings. The same may happen for any other emotion. This can last for however long she is exposed to the emotion.
  • Sentient Connections: When Cordelia does form these bonds, it’s entirely unintentional, usually brought on through intense emotional interaction. With this, she is able to experience all of their emotions, even the negative ones. If her bonded partner experiences pain, Cordelia will experience all emotions stemmed by pain. When these connections are broken, the loss greatly affects her negatively, almost as if there is a void left in herself.
  • Sibling immunity: Cordelia’s siblings have shown an immunity to her emotional manipulation. She may sense their emotions, much like anyone else, but that is about all she may do with her siblings.

Non-Power Talents:

Cordelia isn’t a very skilled fighter, but she knows a few schoolyard moves from her “bad girl” days when she was younger. Her ability to remain so apathetic towards most things in life should be a talent in itself considering her abilities. Otherwise, Cordelia is known to roll some pretty remarkable joints, and can drink guys twice her size under the table.

Equipment:

Cordelia usually has a pack of gum on her at all times.

“Shipper” 2:

“You found me dressed in black, hiding way up at the back.”

  • Friends: Cordelia finds herself drawn to the wallflowers and the oddballs. She’s always kept her circle small, but now her circle is almost nonexistent. She doesn’t go out of her way to impress people. If someone ends up liking her, then that’s great. Otherwise, she doesn’t really care.
  • Enemies: Cordelia’s apathy rubs a lot of people the wrong way. Her own enemies are those she shares blood with. She also has a sentient connection to Adam Davenport, the man who attacked her in her apartment and murdered her roommate.
  • Loves: Cordelia likes the freedom of being single, but her powers force her to understand people on much more intimate levels. People may find her very alluring, but she’s only ever had intense, passionate feelings for two people in her life. She’s scared of commitment, so it takes a lot for her to settle down with just one person.
  • Other: Sentient connections:  Adam Davenport: born from intense feelings of horror, despair, and rage.

Cordelia & Auz:

They met in 2019 A.D., thanks to her sister, Emma.  Cordelia was impressed at how honest Auz was about his true thoughts and feelings –about everything, not just her.  Vouching for him, Emma didn’t have to do much to encourage her sister to accept the invitation of one of the most rebellious bad-boys of all time; Auz had created his own breakaway civilization, after all.

What she discovered while in his realm has kept her impressed and smiling to this day, and she realized there are far more-powerful ways of rebelling and being ‘her own person’ than tattoing herself, wearing goth-like makeup and nail-polish, dying her hair, and doing drugs.  For her latest lover, Auz, she stopped all those things, and without him even asking her to.  She sensed how impressed and happy, even hopeful, it made him feel when she showed up for fuck-dates with him, looking all ‘polished’ (professional), not smelling of the drugs he had never liked, and so on.

One day, she even learned there were technological and magical ways she could make her skin look tattoo-free, good as new, which she tried –just for him.  Again, he was pleasantly surprised, and that made her smile big, feeling great.  She felt even greater about herself and their new relationship/fling when he told her –and her empathic superpower confirming he truly felt this way– “Tattooed or not, you are gorgeous to me, and I always want you.  Thank you so much for doing that for me.  I can’t tell you how good it makes me feel.  I know I have tattoos, too, so I’d never hold yours against you.  I just felt really honored and special when you showed me you respect me and my culture here that much.”
The two got lost in each other’s smiling eyes in that moment, just marveling at one another… until they suddenly re-embraced and got right to it, just like they always did when reconnecting.

2020 Update:

Cordelia now has a permanent corporate office in one of the shapeshifting skyscrapers of downtown Inisfree.  She goes on regular business-lunch dates with the KingSometimes they talk about business.

2022:

She has decided to marry High King Auz at the same time next year when her sister will be, making it a truly polyamory event.

20 September (11 Harvest on Inisfree’s calendar) is our Businesswomen Day; Cordelia loves getting together with Auz and her fellow businesswomen in Inisfree for lots of celebratory love this holiday.

2024:

“All about” being a rebel in some ways, she loved discovered my (Auz’s) Kno clothing brand/line, and she now wears her favorites from it every time we meet –plus plenty of times she is elsewhere.

It has come to my attention that she is known to some as “the Professor X of empaths”; Cordelia is one of the most empathic on Earth; she doesn’t just get subtle feelings of what others are thinking or in the mood for, or whether they are hurt/injured without showing/saying so, …she can tell exactly what they are feeling and why, at incredible distances, and can sense/know this for hundreds -if not many more- people at a time.  With more time and practice, she might become able to sense what people on other worlds, or even in other times, or even other timelines, are feeling.  She might become able to perceive their entire lifespan in feelings-form; not seeing where they went, but feeling how they felt, in a sequence, from birth to present (or even future), whenever she thinks about, or happens to notice, each.

26 this year, she now looks 16 –and forevermore shall, thanks to half a decade of direct exposure to me, my people, and my realm.

2030:

She has become the 4th member/hostess of Inisfree’s TV show “Shark Tank Inisfree”.
