Meredith Vickers was a Weyland Corporation representative stationed aboard the exploration vessel USCSS Prometheus on its expedition to LV-223. She is skeptical of the mission and believes it is a waste of time. She is also the daughter of Weyland Corporation founder, Peter Weyland.

History

Background

Meredith Vickers was the daughter of Peter Weyland, founder of the Weyland Corporation. Her father never gave Vickers much attention, but instead gave much attention to his artificial “son” David. This caused Vickers’ relationship with her father to deteriorate.

Project Prometheus

In 2089, her father who’s health was rapidly declining was contacted by archeologist Elizabeth Shaw to share her discovery at a cave located in the Isle of Skye regarding a star map that she interpreted as an invitation from humanity’s forerunners, or “Engineers”. Believing that this would save him from death, Weyland funds the creation of the scientific vessel Prometheus to follow the map to the distant moon LV-223. However, he also left his company in ruin. Vickers had no choice but to step in as the acting CEO of the entire company all by herself.

Her father offered her to follow him in his expedition to LV-223. Though she was reluctant to follow him in his expedition, Vickers eventually decided to follow him serving as the mission’s director while her father secretly spent his remaining days in hyper-sleep on board the Prometheus with only David, his bodyguard, doctors and Vickers herself knowing of his presence.

Arrival

After spending two years in hyper-sleep, Vickers awakens and asks David about the period of time, as well as the current status of the Prometheus’ crew. As the Prometheus nearly arrives on LV-223, Vickers had the entire crew awaken of the mission’s briefing to find the Engineers. Shortly after the briefing, Vickers meets with Shaw and Holloway and told them to avoid making contact with the Engineer without her permission. Once the Prometheus lands on LV-223, the team explores a large artificial structure nearby, with Vickers monitoring their activity from the Prometheus. Inside they find numerous stone cylinders, a monolithic statue of a humanoid head, and the corpse of a large alien thought to be an Engineer, proving that Vickers’ doubts were wrong.

As a rapid windstorm approaches, Vickers threatens to lock down the Prometheus if the team doesn’t return in fifteen minutes. Though Shaw and Holloway were caught in the windstorm, all the team members made it back safely, except for Millburn and Fifield who were left stranded in the structure. Vickers was present when Shaw, Ford, Holloway and David were examining the remains of an Engineer’s head they retrieved from the structure. Shaw and Ford used the Synapse Re-establisher on the Engineer’s head to temporarily revive it in order to learn more about it. While it succeeded at first, it backfires shortly after and causes the Engineer’s head to explode. After David commune with Peter via visor-helmet, Vickers forces David to tell her what did her father said to him. David simply told her that her father told him to “try harder.” While on the Prometheus’ cockpit, captain Janek engages in a conversation with Vickers and tells her his suspicion of her being an android due to her cold behavior. Vickers responded by telling him to meet her in her room in 10 minutes.

The next day, the team prepares to reenter the structure to search for Fifield and Milburn, only to find Milburn’s corpse. David cuts off communication with Vickers and separately discovers a control room containing a surviving Engineer in stasis, and a star map highlighting Earth. Holloway, who unknowingly ingested the black liquid, falls ill to an infection that rapidly ravages his body. He is rushed back to the Prometheus, but Vickers refuses to let him aboard, and at his urging, burns him to death with a flamethrower, though she does so reluctantly and after Holloway asks her to. After Weyland is awakened from stasis and prepares to leave with the crew for the structure, Vickers addresses him as “Father”.

Death

She decides to abandon the mission and return to Earth after her father and many of the crew members are killed by the Engineer. However, Shaw convinces Janek, Chance, and Ravel to stop the Engineer’s Juggernaut ship via a suicide attack instead of going back to Earth in order to stop the Engineer to complete his mission to destroy Earth. Vickers was against the idea and is forced to escape the Prometheus’ destruction via life boat, but after landing on the ground Vickers appeared to be crushed to death by the crashing Juggernaut while trying to run away.

Meredith Vickers is a Company Suit aboard ship in the film Prometheus.

Vickers character is played by Charlize Theron.

She is considered as ‘Mission Director’ for Prometheus’ mission, and is there for insuring the financial interests of the Weyland Corporation are maintained and that the crew of Prometheus achieve set misson goals on LV223.

Vickers is the first person out of stasis as they approach LV223 quickly showering and dressing before communicating with David. Later after the crew have finished in the Mess Hall and checked their stations they are called into the Cargo Bay for a presentation by Vickers, Holloway and Shaw. There they use a WMCD device capable of displaying across the entire width of the bay, first Vickers discusses the importance of Prometheus’ mission followed by Shaw and Holloway. Once Prometheus’ crew are informed about Prometheus’ mission and their questions have been answered they all take up their stations for landing.

Once landed the crew journey into the Alien Temple with Vickers and the flight crew staying onboard. There they can monitor the team with the equipment on the Bridge, and once Fifield has released the spectagraphs the information about the Temple’s structure is relayed to the HoloTab were the data is displayed as an image of the internal structure allowing the crew to navigate the corridors.

As soon as they reach the Ampule Room their journey is cut short from an approaching storm with only time to grab a Biomask found at the entrance before Vickers calls them back aboard Prometheus. All but Fifield and Millburn are able to return, Vickers leaves the flight crew to check on their safety before they can be collected the next day. During the night she returns to the Bridge checking their safety and sharing a conversation with Janek, which she later spends a moment with.

The following day the crew set off with one less NR6, with David taking the other available NR6 journeying separately into the Temple allowing him to follow a signal from a life source discovered the night before. Meanwhile Holloway falls ill when the other crew discovers Millburn’s dead body in the Ampule Room and this cuts their search for Fifield short, rushing back to the ship as quickly as they can. There they find that Vickers is waiting for them in the Cargo Bay holding a flamethrower and refusing to allow Holloway back aboard and ignoring Shaw’s cries to somehow try to save him. With the request of Holloway, and a thought about her and the crew’s safety she burns Holloway, killing him and stopping any pathogens aboard the craft.

Later Vickers talks to David after he returns knowing he had spoken to Weyland, who had also been on the craft but in a separate room unbeknown to all the crew, Vickers is informed that Weyland will be out of stasis soon.

Once Weyland has emerged from stasis David and the remaining mercenaries help him into an exo-frame which allows him maneuverability, Vickers joins him as this is occurring spending a moment with him before they set off for the Derelict and the Engineer in his Sarcophagus.

Weyland takes with him David, Ford, Shaw and Jackson leaving Vickers and the rest of the surviving crew aboard Prometheus. Later Shaw returns as the only survivor stating that ‘the Engineer must be stopped at all costs’, Janek and the flight crew decide to take off and stop him using Prometheus, with Vickers wanting to go home uses an Ejection Pod moments before the impact, landing safely and teaming up with Shaw on the surface. Prometheus collides with the Derelict causing it to descend back towards the surface and as it does … appears to crush a fleeing Vickers and almost crushing Shaw who evades the rolling craft.

Vickers was though to be killed when Idris Janek intentionally crashed the Prometheus into the Juggernaut to prevent it from reaching Earth; though she escaped from the Prometheus moments before the collision, it looked like she was crushed underneath the Juggernaut as it fell to the ground below.

Meredith & Auz:

Inisfree had become a Space-capable superpower years before Meredith was reported lost on an alien planet. What really happened out there, though? Was the report as accurate as its witnesses claimed?

Inisfreeans tend to be very subtle, very clandestine, and one could say even sly. The moment Meredith seemed lost, an Inisfreean portal was opened, through which she was skillfully removed from the path of the falling (or rolling, rather) Spaceship. Who would try to check beneath such a massive wreck, when time was of the essence, and hostile creatures were creeping around?

Finding herself in the underground Quarantine Facility of the city called Inisfree, she was gradually reassured, offered meals to her liking, and taught what had happened and why. As the days turned into weeks, she found herself age-regressing until she stabilized with the appearance not of a 36-year-old, …but a 16-year-old. An Inisfreean then hosted the official tour of their realm for her, letting her go even beyond the hidden city itself… into their own private dimension and solar-system.

The leader of the people who’d saved her and built all those wonders had her full attention and growing interest. When he flew with her back out of his own man-made star-system, and into Inisfree’s downtown area full of beautiful skyscrapers upon skyscrapers, asking her if she’d accept his offer to be the top representative and adviser of her family company whenever able to return here, she went wide-eyed and instantly accepted. She has since been reinserted into the outside world –and Weyland-Yutani (what Weyland Corp. became after merging with Yutani Corp. in 2099)– with the regular quiet help of the Inisfreeans, allowing her to oversee the terraforming of many worlds –including most of those of the 34 Tauri solar-system.

Meredith remains an immortal now, always looking not a day over her teenage years. Outlanders assume this is due to plastic surgery, cybernetics, or some other expensive procedure or lifestyle. Auz and the Inisfreeans know better.

This is the year she eagerly accepted King Auz’s offer of marriage.

She knows I (Auz) regard her as the princess of her father’s megacorporation… turned secret queen of the collective of all human colonies on other worlds –so when I adoringly call her princess or queen, she grins and blushes, loving that.
