Inisfree has several distinct mountain ranges.  The central one is by far and away the biggest and tallest.  Here are all their names and functions.

Table of Contents:

  1. Alhazred Range:  stretching out around the civilian airport and zoo
  2. Cropland Ridge:  separating Inisfree’s largest farms from the LZ-side of the main beach
  3. Disney Range:  smallest; bordering one side of the amusement park
  4. Dragon’s Back (Ridge):  separating the Impact Zone from the main canyon
  5. Lower-plateau Ridge:  serving as the catch-all berm alongside the surface shooting-ranges
  6. Marcinko Range:  from the swamp to the Pail Buildings Complex
  7. Mt. Olympus II:  including its foothills and Mt. Auzmore, and the Slope Clearing

Alhazred Range:

Stretching out around the civilian airport and zoo, this set of mountains provides a natural barrier that controls foot-traffic and deflects sounds –not just outbound from this airport and our zoo, but incoming; it helps keep distracting noise down, aiding the pilots and guests.

  • Heights Range:  ~264′ to ~594′
  • Length:  ~29,040′; ~5.5 miles
  • Width:  ~462′ to ~1,122′
  • Facilities/Features:
    Abu Simbel Pass
    (1) gem beacon,
    (2) isolated glamping-sites,
and (2) cloning facilities (doubling as rapid-healing clinics) for the zoo (never ended up being used)

Cropland Ridge:

Separating Inisfree’s largest farms from the LZ-side of the main beach, this ridge was originally shaped to keep the lake-side sand away from our topside fertile soil.  It also keeps the lower/civilian-desert sand isolated in its own designated region.

  • Heights Range:  ~660′
  • Length:  ~21,120′; ~4 miles
  • Width:  ~1,056′ to ~1,254′
  • Facilities/Features:
    (1) gem beacon,
    (1) solarium,
    (2) isolated glamping-sites,
    and the Consensual Non-consent Field

Disney Range:

This is our smallest mountain range, and it serves as the border for one side of our amusement park.  It is considered to include the ridge which supports our ‘Ridgeline Buildings-chain’.

Dragon’s Back (Ridge):

Separating the Paintball Warfare Area from the “upper” section of the main canyon, this ridge is where our India temple is.

  • Heights Range:  ~726′
  • Length:  ~9,240′; ~1.75 miles
  • Width:  ~1,254
  • Facilities/Features:
    (1) gem beacon,
    the India Temple

Lower-plateau Ridge:

Serving as the catch-all berm alongside the surface shooting-ranges and impact zone/s, this ridge includes numerous Halo Maps (underground combat-rooms) many stories beneath its surface/exterior.

  • Heights Range:  ~396′ to ~660′
  • Length:  ~13,200′; ~2.5 miles
  • Width:  ~726′ to ~1,254′
  • Facilities/Features:
    (1) gem beacon,
    (1) solarium,
    (17) Halo Maps training facilities
    and (1) Black Vault

Marcinko Range:

From the swamp to the Pail Buildings Complex, this ground-level series of mountains also contains numerous Halo Maps training facilities within it.

  • Heights Range:  ~594′
  • Length:  ~7,920′; ~1.5 miles
  • Width:  ~1,122′
  • Facilities/Features:
    (1) gem beacon),
and (10) Halo Maps training facilities

Mt. Olympus II:

Including its foothills and Mt. Auzmore, and the Slope Clearing

  • Heights Range:  ~10,560′ (above sea-level, most-comparable to Aconcagua; ~22’837′ above the oceans, or Denali; ~20,310′)
  • Length:  ~26’400′ diameter; ~5 miles
  • Width:  ~26’400′ diameter; ~5 miles
  • Facilities/Features:  (numerous; thousands)

Name Differences:

When a span of prominent topography (raised landform/terrain; at least one mountain) has a uniform ridgeline, we call it a mountain ridge.

When such a span has distinct/separate peaks/summits, we call it a mountain range.
