There is a lone boxy high-rise standing tall near the middle of our lower desert plateau.

Introduction:

This is the structure designed to represent a standard office building or high-rise.  It stands several stories tall, can support a helicopter roof landing, has rappelling rigs for all its sides and windows, and even comes with multiple ‘burn rooms’ for firefighting practice inside.  This is Inisfree’s equivalent of the Marine Corps’ MCRD-SD rappelling tower.

Who Trains Here:

*Fire-tank crews practice here, re-certifying every fire-tank and themselves annually.  This recertification includes practice putting out high-rise fires while hovering, putting out vehicle fires landing over them such that the small personal automobile ends up inside the suppression bay of the fire-tank, and portal-ing trapped people / burn-victims to safety when flames are not yet snuffed out of their path.

You may know some of them by name;

  • Alexia: SPA field agent
  • Alison Hart-Burnett: “Lady Jaye”
  • Anna Marie D’Ancant: “Rogue”, first succubus known to be compatible with the Inisfreeans
  • Avril Kincaid: “Quasar”, S.H.I.E.L.D.; quantum bands
  • Carmilla Black: “Scorpion”, the clubber & assassin with the green arm
  • Felicia Hardy: “Black Cat”, an X-Man
  • Georgina Sinclair: an assassin who became a shapeshifter during the Shift of 2012
  • Helena Wayne: heiress of Wayne Enterprises
  • Lara Croft: even more of an expert on tombs and ruins than Indiana Jones
  • Lin Mae: commander of the Crane Corps of the Great Wall of China, many generations ago
  • Maria Hill: a former Director of SHIELD
  • Max Guevara: a human clone whose DNA was spliced with various animals’ (designation X5-332960073452)
  • Miranda Lawson: a Cerberus officer (yes, she was kept alive by Inisfree contact)
  • Narissa:  first Romulan welcomed to Inisfree
  • Natasha Romanoff: “Black Widow” (PB Angie Everhart), Russian network
  • Nyssa Damaskinos: a pure-blood vampire princess from Prague, daughter of vampire overlord Eli Damaskinos, she now resurrected and stabilized, representing all the vampires of that nation
  • Quorra:  first Tron person welcomed to Inisfree
  • Rain Ocampo: USCMC pilot (of the UD-4L “Cheyenne” Dropship)
  • Roxanne Morton: a British spy assumed KIA
  • Selene (of Viktor of Marcus Corvinus): former Death Dealer (Lycan huntress; killer of werewolves), now mother of a vampire-werewolf hybrid, and representing all the vampires of Hungary
  • Valeera Sanguinar: Blood Elf thief and warrior

Drills:

  • basic entry
  • mechanical breaching
  • explosive breaching
  • rooftop insertion/landing
  • rappelling & belaying
  • dynamic entry
  • reaction to sniper in an elevated position
  • sniping from an elevated position
  • helicopter-mounted marksmanship
  • high-rise firefighting
  • high-rise injured-person rescue
  • high-rise hostage rescue

As of 2024, since this doubles as our first/main “kill-house” (live-fire entry-rehearsals building), it is the only shooting-range which allows firing in more than one direction (example-video link below).

2022 Update:  Usage Over Time

Like in many Outlands nations/realms, ~1-3% of the total population volunteers to serve as its protectors, such as law enforcement and military personnel.  At our capacity (2B allied/aligned people, each/all of them returning to Inisfree roughly every year for ~a few weeks to a month, give or take), 1-3% is ~20M-60M people.  ~20,000,000 to ~60,000,000 non-ICVs train with us to continue being the best protectors (of their own realms; we’ve got ours covered) they can be.

Taking the median of that range, we’ll say, for simplicity’s sake here, that ~40,000,000 residents/allies of Inisfree come to this (type of) facility/structure at least once each year, and when we spread them out over our 13 months… we end up seeing ~3,076,923 of them here each month, and most only come for a couple hours of training during each of 2-3 days; ~109,890-219,780 each day.  Taking the median of that range, we get ~164,835.  164,835 spread out over all 24 hours available in a day results in ~6,868 people per hour; obviously, that’s too many to fit in a structure like this, so those who have not asked to reserve a couple hours here well in advance… we fly to an identical training-tower in one of our Inisfree-like cities.  (205,001 cities in our empire means that we have room for ~9,840,048 such operators/protectors/trainees (205,001 x 12 2-hour slots per day x standard 4-person fire-team) to use this type of facility in our realm during the course of each 24-hour period –which comes out to ~1,795,808,760 each Earth-year, if each of those teams wants a couple back-to-back training-days at one of them; we have the capacity, in this way, to let almost our entire allied/guest population use these towers of ours.)

Millennia by millennia, we see/project this much usage:

  1. In 2013:  ~144K guests (x2%) means ~2,880 users of this training tower here; ~16/d (with everyone spending 2 training-days here).  [(144,000 x .02) / (182.5 2-day periods per year) / (12 2-hour periods per day)]
  2. In 3000 A.D.:  ~50M allies/guests/residents (x2%) means ~1M users of this training tower here; ~5,479/d; ~456 every 2-hour training-block; many of them flown to S.S.A. to use another training-tower there.
  3. 4000:  ~100M = ~2M users; ~10,959/d; ~913/hr; ~229 other training-towers (i.e. Inisfree-like cities) used (913 / 4-person fire-team)
  4. 5000:  ~200M = ~4M users; ~21,918/d; ~1,826/hr; ~457 other training-towers (i.e. Inisfree-like cities) used

Any time a team/unit wants to train at one of our training towers longer than a 2-hour block per day, we accommodate them locally (in Inisfree) until another team who has reserved a 2-hour block at this training tower is ready to begin.  During days when all 12 2-hour time-blocks are reserved, (~2090/+ A.D.; when S.S.A. is built/stabilized; ready for guests) we fly teams to one of our Inisfree-like cities to use its training tower instead.

While our Civilian Aerospaceport can fly our regular guests and residents to the equivalent facilities of our Inisfree-like cities in that private realm/dimension, those who are here to train in an enforcement/military/rescue manner are flown via our Military Aerospaceport to the equivalent facility in the Inisfree-like city they have training-tower time reserved at/in.

2023 Update:  Alison Showing How It’s Done

Progression:

Once the basics/tactics are mastered at this tower, individuals and teams/units can go on to our Pail-shaped Buildings Complex to combine different tactics into one or more strategies for clearing/exploring/capturing an entire group of high-rises.
