Introduction:
These are the spherical mansions built into the ceiling of the Temple of Auz. Protruding like bowls attached to all angles of the interior of the dome that covers that temple, these houses serve as more examples of Inisfreean engineering brilliance. Inisfreeans staff all of them, and guests are welcome to stay in them for as long as they like.
–
Dimensions & Layout:
Overall:
- There are 1,000 of these ceiling mansions spread out across the inside surface of the dome that makes up the majority of the structure of this temple, and all of these ceiling mansions are arranged along one shoulder (the one nearest the interior of this dome) of the G.A.H. that spirals up through this dome.
- This gives them a formation appearance, when viewed from the seats on the floor of this temple, of being in a spiral; a single curving line of large dots.
- When all the lights are out in the temple they are in, except for a few of their own (the light fixtures inside the rooms of these ceiling mansions), the effect is one of an almost sky-sized sky-dome of dark night with patches of starlight.
Ceiling Mansion:
- Each ceiling mansion has three stories,
- the top and bottom ones measuring 66′ in height,
- with the middle floor being 66′ in height and 198′ in diameter,
- giving each ceiling mansion here 76,937 square-feet of floor-space, not counting the surface-area of the pool that makes up much of each one’s inverted-dome basement-window floor; that’s more room than the largest mansions even from the United States.
- Roughly half of each ceiling mansion is inside the ceiling that is the dome over their temple, and it is from these halves that the garages and driveways connect them to the local G.A.H. on-ramps and off-ramps. To view the cavernous interior of the temple from any of these ceiling mansions, go to the bay window on the middle floor, or to the bottom floor, which doubles as an observation deck; yes, the basements of these houses are where the most windows are.
Ceiling-mansions Arrangement:
- To fit all 1,000 ceiling mansions in this dome and along that curve/spiral, with good-looking dispersion, we placed them ~198′ apart; the same as each of their diameters. That results in a sequence ~395,802′ long [(1,000 x 198′) + (999 x 198′)].
- The diameter of the sanctuary (inside the doom) is 8,240′.
- The circumference of the inner surface of this dome is 25,886.72′; that’s room for 65 ceiling mansions at the 198′ dispersion/spacing.
- 395,802 / 25,886.72 = 15.289770198773734177215189873418; in order for the 1,000 ceiling mansions, kept at 198′-dispersion (spacing), to fit in-sequence there, there would need to be ~15.3 full (circumference-long) loops of them. Each G.A.H. loop higher up in the dome gets shorter, though, so the result is a G.A.H. section in the dome which has dozens of loops along its way from ground-level up to where it ‘ends’ in the middle/center of the top of this dome.
- Dispersion (vertical) between the lines/loops does not have to be 198′, though; the ceiling mansions are placed in an alternating/offset way, so the imaginary diagonal line from one loop/level’s sequence of ceiling mansions… up or down to the adjacent loop/level’s sequence of ceiling mansions… is 198′.
- 65 ceiling mansions fit on the first 6 GAH levels/loops of the spiral formation; 390, leaving 610 for the upper levels/loops.
- 13 more levels/loops would mean, averaged out, 47 ceiling mansions per, but that obviously isn’t possible due to how much smaller the upper levels/loops are.

Dome Dimensions:
- In order to have plenty of space for the halves of these ceiling mansions, and the G.A.H. (which is 16 lanes wide) which provides access to and from them all, the dome of the Temple of Auz is 500′ thick most of the way up,
- and smoothly thinning to ~100′ thick at the top (because it only needs enough room for the upper halves of the Ceiling Mansions imbedded/attached there, the G.A.H. only needing to be ~60′ tall from drivable-surface to ceiling, which is enough room for the 3-story mobile-houses beneath the big hanging chandeliers).
Dome-GAH Dimensions:
- There are no turnaround loops, vertical or otherwise, but there is a ~40′-tall, no-chandeliers, ~80′-wide, 2-lane, no shoulders, underpass tunnel from the GAH-shoulder between every Ceiling Mansion… to the GAH-shoulder on the other side. Each of these underpasses allows two-way traffic; 2 side-by-side 30′-wide mobile houses can be going opposite directions in these underpasses. The norm, by far, is that both of the underpass sides are used for two 10′-wide car/truck lanes flanked by two 10′-wide shoulders, thus creating a 20′-wide median.
Since the median is sometimes used for mobile houses, it has no fountains or landscaping, only a waist-level partition. - The underpasses are 290′ long; that gives them 20′ of clearance away from the sides of the highway, thus maintaining 20′-wide shoulders still 2/3 wide enough for a mobile house to pull over and past them.
- There are no female-statue support-pillars in the dome, however each of the underpasses has both sides lined with them as decoration.
At 40′ from floor to ceiling (feet to hands), each statue is ~30′ from feet to head-top.
At 30′ tall, each statue has a 7.2′ shoulder-to-shoulder span, and is 4.5′ from front (nipples) to back (rear-most curve/plane of the ass-cheeks).
With 7.2′ shoulder-widths, and the statues spaced that same distance apart, 20 of them are along each side of the underpass; each underpass has a total of 40 of these 30′-tall statues.
There are 40,000 of these statues (40 statues x 1,000 tunnels). - 400,000′-long GAH spiral in the dome… over a vertical change of 4,554′ = a slope of 1′ rise or fall every lateral 87.83487044′; for every ~87.8′ you drive, you are either ascending or descending 1′.
–
Capacity:
Each Ceiling Mansion has ~76,937 sqft of floorspace (total), and 3 floors.
- at ~25 sqft/person = room for 3,077 human-sized guests during a party (with some in the parking vehicles or mobile houses in the garage)
3,077 x 1,000 = room for up to 3,077,000 people in the dome of this building
but the bottom floor is just a pool,
and half the middle is the garage.
- middle floor is 30,790.75 sqft; half is 15,395.375
- 15,395 sqft = room for 615 on the half of the middle floor that is not the garage
76,937 – 30,790.75 = 46,146.25
46,146.25 / 2 = 23,073.125 for each of the other 2 floors
- 23,073 sqft = room for 922 in the pool,
- and room for 922 upstairs in the bedroom
23,073.125 area = 171.399′ diameter; 26.601′ shorter than the middle floor; ~13′ less per side
23,073 (the upper floor) + 15,395 (half of the middle floor) = 38,468 sqft.
- This is considered living-space; people can comfortably sleep there.
- 38,468 / ~100sqft/resident = a residents-capacity of ~384 people per Ceiling Mansion, comfortably.
384 x 1,000 = 384,000 for the dome. - Usually only ~50 staff and/or family members per main Congress-girl stay with them here, though, so the population in the dome stays around 50,000, not 384,000.
- ~61.54x that many can fit up here for multiple simultaneous gatherings, though; 3,077,000 people can be in the dome if all 1,000 Ceiling Mansions are at standing-room capacity.
The garage of each Ceiling Mansion is big enough for 5 30′-wide mobile houses.
- 5 x 1,000 = parking for 5,000 mobile houses in the dome
- The mobile houses are from the Modern American neighborhood, though, which has only 320 houses; there are only, at most, 320 mobile houses in Inisfree.
- 75 normal-size vehicles (car/truck) can fit in each Ceiling Mansion garage; 75,000 if all Ceiling Mansions were full.
- 75,000 vehicles of that size can easily bring 300,000-375,000 people –which is close to the 384,000 residents-capacity.
The dome is designed to be able to easily support:
- the weight of the 75+ miles of the GAH in it,
- plus its 10,000 chandeliers (5 x 2,000; 5 in front of every Ceiling Mansion, plus 5 in between),
- plus the landscaping of the Ceiling Mansion yards along its inside curve,
… - plus the 1,000 Ceiling Mansions; ~2,308,110,000 lbs.; 1,154,055 tons (1,000 x 76,937 sqft x ~30 lbs./sqft; ~10x < for an Outlands house),
… - plus 5,000 30′-wide 3-story mobile houses; ~135,000,000 lbs.; 67,500 tons (5,000 x 900 sqft x 30 lbs./sqft),
… - plus 3,077,000 human-sized people; ~421,549,000 lbs.; 210,774.5 tons (90% female; ~130 lbs. (2,769,300 x 130; 360,009,000 lbs.), + 10% male; ~200 lbs. (307,700 x 200; 61,540,000 lbs.)),
… - plus all the traffic for them if each comes in his/her own vehicle; ~1,276,955,000 lbs.; 638,477.5 tons (3,077,000 x 415 lbs.; 10x less than the avg. weight of a personal vehicle in the Outlands, since Inisfreean vehicles are made of lighter-weight materials),
… - plus the weight of the plumbing water/liquid in the pipes connected to each Ceiling Mansion.
…
Subtotal: 2,070,807 tons (Ceiling Mansions + mobile houses + people + vehicles)
Total: many millions of tons, even with the 10x-lighter-weight materials used in/for the highway and dome
–
Other Standard Features:
The Ceiling Mansions include many of the architectural elements common to other buildings and homes across the Inisfreean realm; each has ample space set aside for parking, introductions, cooking, dining, viewing, entertaining, bathing, reading, desk work, sleeping, and more.
Like all ICs, the doors of these Ceiling Mansions also include the rolling cylinders with their L-shaped passageways; they are designed to be usable only be people who are in shape and compatible with the Inisfreeans. Stairwells in these Ceiling Mansions are also, of course, AIOWs; this is another of the standard ways Inisfreeans help all who visit them stay fit, active, and happy.
Each Ceiling Mansion includes a basement-level observation-deck; a room whose entire floor is transparent! The Ceiling Mansions closer to ground-level have most of their side transparent, as about half of their basements are within the wall that is the dome of the Auz’dome. The Ceiling Mansions halfway up the top each have more of their basement transparent, and less of their uppermost floor transparent. Ceiling Mansions at the top of the domed ceiling of the Auz’dome have only and all of their basements transparent, and none of their top floors transparent, as their top floors are fully up inside the dome of the Auz’dome.
Water is not pumped up to the Ceiling Mansions; the dome includes a separate water-tower-sized reservoir/tank for each Ceiling Mansion, at the level of its Ceiling Mansion. Each tank is big enough to replace the water in its Ceiling Mansion’s bottom-level pool, thus it has plenty for all the cleaning and cooking needs of the rest of the Ceiling Mansion.
Water can be pumped up or portal-ed in, but does not need to be, since we use water recyclers built into the tanks in the dome.
To prevent Ceiling Mansion residents and guests from have to drive an hour up or down through the dome, on the opposite side of the GAH from every Ceiling Mansion garage door is a personal-aircraft port, allowing people to fly directly to/from the open air outside the dome.
Each Ceiling Mansion has built-in repulsines which cancel out its weight plus the weight of what enters it.
–
Special Features:
Invisible energy membranes are precisely tuned to allow breezes back and forth through them, and sounds in from below (so that the people in these ceiling mansions can hear what goes on down on the temple’s floor, but the people down on that temple floor can’t be distracted by what goes on in the ceiling mansions above them), but prevent anything from falling through, such as a person tripping, or a spilled beverage.
–
Layout & Maps:
These images show the general double-spiral formation of all ceiling-mansions, as well as, along one side of the example cut-away, how half of each ceiling-mansion protrudes like a dome from the part of the temple’s ceiling it is built into, regardless of the angle/slope at that part of the ceiling’s curve. Ceiling Mansions at the top of the Auz’dome only have windows along their lower of three floors plus the bottom half of their middle floor, while successively lower Ceiling Mansions have more and more of a window-wall along one side/curve of even their uppermost floor.

How the Mansions are Numbered:
The Ceiling Mansions number 1,000, and are numbered from 1 through 1,000, starting with the one at the top-center of the dome. This is for ease of numbering/mapping (and the same way we number the cities on the worlds in Star-system Auzdein). Each sequence of 50 Ceiling Mansions is for one of the groups of compatible species listed above, and the numbered names/women/goddesses within those groups listed above correspond to the Ceiling Mansions in their group’s sequence, starting with the smaller numbers, i.e. starting from the higher Ceiling Mansions and working down their spiral arrangement on/within the dome.
As more join us here in Inisfree and volunteer to become representatives of their peoples, empires, and worlds, their names will be inserted alphabetically into the groups listed above, resulting in some of the assignments shifting a few Ceiling Mansions up or down the sequence.
At present, the first 35 Ceiling Mansions nearest Inisfree’s ground-level are unoccupied.

2022 Updates: History and Ceremony, and Rules
History and Ceremony:
Every time a new wife (of High King Auz) volunteers to be a Congress-girl here, we ‘christen’ her assigned Ceiling Mansion with a housewarming polyamory orgy with all his other available/present/visiting Congress-girl wives plus their staff members. ICVs play hostess during these christenings, and our/his kajirae serve (such as by being the living platters upon with nyotaimori catering presentations are arranged). This is Inisfree.
…
Rules:
- To keep distractions to a minimum, no traffic to/from the Ceiling Mansions is allowed on the sanctuary side; all traffic to/from them must be on the dome side; via/through the dome.
- No parking on the GAH-shoulders or anywhere else in the dome; only in the Ceiling Mansion garages.
- No loitering on the landscaping/lawns of any Ceiling Mansion; stand, sit, and lie down only inside the Ceiling Mansions.
- Every Ceiling Mansion is somewhat like an embassy; the rules of the nation/homeland of the people living/working inside any given Ceiling Mansion are not the enforceable law in that Ceiling Mansion, but their privacy is protected, and admittance is only by a combination of their invitations to others… paired with approval from Auz or his Inisfreeans (ICVs). Ceiling Mansions are NOT casual residences where random/unscheduled visits are allowed.
- No stopping on the (inner shoulders; of the) median or (outer) shoulders; the highway portion outside each Ceiling Mansion is for traffic only.
- No air-traffic in the dome, except directly between a Ceiling Mansion and the aircraft-port directly in front of it; do not fly elsewhere above the highway, such as between the chandeliers.
